A few questions about Voyager

A newbie here

Got a few questions about the Moog Voyager. Been looking at the Voyager “Select series” and was wondering how the sounds compare to the other “Voyagers” (ie. old school, performer, electric blue, etc)

I tried out the old school and loved it (not to mention the look of it!), but wasn’t to impressed about the “no midi, and no presets”.

My question is, are the sounds on the OLD SCHOOL the same as on the select series? Do all the voyagers have the capability to make the same sounds? Or is there a difference?

Thanks!

Well, they both have the same audio engines, but I think you’ll miss the touch pad controller. Not to mention the MIDI and presets…

THe oscillators are the exact same design. THe only difference is that there is no digitality whatsoever, so where the RME/Performer/Select may have some barely noticable latency associated with its digital brain, or where it may see some zippering effects (like controlling the oscillator pitch with the touchpad) then the OS won’t have this digital latency.

Don’t ask about the OS versus the Original MiniMoog or this thread will turn into a Old Vs New flamefest hehehe.

Its happened before everywhere the two were mentioned lolol.

Get a Moog, youll be happy.

Thanks for clearing that up guys.

:unamused: Which is why I just gotta have me a little Voyager select series, can’t go wrong.

ps. I just realized that you’re the same guy i msg’ed on youtube about your voyager in ash and lunar backlighting. damn this world is small :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes…this forum is full of YouTubers! And together we shall rule the internets, which is a series of tubes! :smiling_imp:

Welcome to the forums!

All Voyager editions sound the same. They all have the same electronics - it’s the casing that sets them apart. The Voyager Old School has the same analog circuitry as the other Voyagers (EB, Select, Performer, RME) minus the digital control, so it will basically sound the same as the other editions. But the Old School’s lack of digital circuitry means that it can’t do everything the other Voyagers do (for example, digital control provides expanded Modulation Routings, Pot Mapping, and Filter Pole selections, to name just a few). This means that some sounds that you can program on digitally-controlled Voyagers cannot not be duplicated on the Old School.

That said, you still get that famous Moog sound with any Voyager.

Hope that helps!

That pretty much sums up what i was waiting to hear  Now its time to start saving for one of these beauties :sunglasses:

Thanks for the responces once again!!
Great forum btw!
