I tried to upgrade from 2.5 to 3.1 this afternoon, but things did not go smoothly, and I have ended up with what I think may be a partial 3.1. I began by installing through the Voyager Editor, but that failed and I used my sequencer (Logic) and the OS MIDI files to attempt an install a second time.
Basically, 3.1 is shown as the OS on start-up splash screen, but only patch names from 1 - 64 are there and none of them sound; 65 - 128 are just garbled names.
As I have nothing but factory programs in the Voyager, I resorted to turning the synth off and back on again, even though I was not certain that the OS had been installed correctly.
Any ideas how I can proceed?
[UPDATE] I just went to Edit> compare to preset and toggled Panel/Preset (as I think I read elsewhere on this site as the thing to do after 3.1 is installed) and I now get sound! I then re-transmitted the standard patches from Voyager Editor and all my patch names are back. But its only one sound, Preset 44 (Touchpad Horn)
Still not quite there - how can I do a ‘clean’ reinstall of the OS?
Go to MASTER menu page 4.4 (Copyright Info), press ENTER, then button +1, the display reads Factory Sounds, press ENTER, then select YES with the CURSOR and after that press ENTER.
Good luck!
I now seem to have a new problem; how do I get the ‘Fast Selection’ knob to work (to the right of the display)? I think it was working before. I couldn’t see how to turn it on in the brief notes in the install package. 3.1 is definitely installed, according to the relevant menu item.
No problem!
If you want to select the programs by the ext. audio pot press PANEL when you are in the PANEL menu and goto page 2.2, press ENTER, select YES with the cursor and ENTER.
Also the “3sec parameter display” is gone after the factory reset. To select the “3sec parameter display” goto page 1.2 in the PANEL menu and choice “3sec.”.
Have fun Ben!
I upgraded from 2.5 using the right load order (B,A,C), did the Factory reset but still have no sound. Actually I can trigger the Voyager thorugh MIDI but not via the keyboard. In the old OS there was an option (MIDI local keyboard) which would have fixed this problem but I couldn’t find in the 3.1.
When I upgraded, it did not ask for the C Bank automatically, I had to go through the Receive update menu the third time (B,A,C Banks). I did the upgrade twice to make sure but I got the same results. Can anyone help?
Update: I did a similar update on an another Voyager with the same results (except it asked for the Bank C). No sound thorugh the keyboard only through MIDI.
OK, so there is a difference between the RME and Voyager OS… The RME does not support keyboard triggering. Mistakenly I loaded the RME version on SE (which did not work), but the keyboard version works well.
installed the new bd. yesterday - 3.1 already loaded and everything worked great. When I tested with the multimeter it was a bit high at .02 vs .016. Didn’t have my glasses so didn’t attempt to adjust using the trimpot on the digital bd. (VR1)
