10th Anniversary Gold Minimoog Voyager Sweepstakes - Drawn?

Maybe it’s just me but, does anybody else find it odd that there’s no news updates or anything regarding the drawing of this competition?

In the competition rules it states that the competition should have been drawn on the 11th Jan 2013. On that date it was still possible to access the enter form on the online app. Since then the enter form has been closed off and the ‘winner’ tab mentions a Minitaur-winning photo, but the photo either isn’t displayed by Moog Music or just doesn’t show up for me on various devices/browsers..

Perhaps the winners’ names are not made public, but I guess I expected some sort of closing statement or similar to put my hopeful mind at ease.

I guess it’s possible they still need time to contact and confirm the winners?

I think I heard some rumour about someone from Australia winning it, but that’s all. And it was just rumour.

To be frank, if I’d won it, I’d have strenuously requested Moog not to say so, and I suspect several other people here would have done the same. Someone here said he lives in or close to a rough neighbourhood and the consequences of his having something covered in 24 carat gold don’t bear thinking about.

It raised all sorts of practical issues. What does one do with such a thing? My contingency plans if I won it were 1) offer it to a dealer I sometimes buy/sell with, or 2) get the gold taken off and valued, and give the insides to a guy I know who’s had endless trouble with his Voyager, for spare parts.

Playing gigs with it was a no-no for security reasons. (I wonder how resiliant 24 carat gold would be on the road, anyway?) In the studio it would have looked hideous, but only to the `lucky’ winner. I really can’t imagine what was going through the mind of the person who thought of this.

I still think this is all an elaborate hoax so the people at Moog can have a laugh. The notion that Moog would actually have built something like this is surreal, like something right out of the dreams of a person with a 103 degree fever.

I would have donated it straight to the BMF.

  1. I wouldn’t want to pay taxes on it.
  2. Someone is going to pay some interesting customs declarations if it ships overseas.
