104 Delay self-oscillation

Hi…my MF-104 Delay does not seem to self-oscillate as well as it should when I turn the repeats up all the way. Is there some way to get inside and tweak something in order for it to go into self-oscillation easier? Thanks.

This has come up a lot in the forum. We have thought that there were some jumpers inside the unit that were grounding out on the housing. You might can take a look at yours (I think by removing the right cheek) and see if the jumper is touching the housing. We believe that this is the source of the shorting of the repeating circuit.

Try this:
Unplug the power supply and plug it back in. Did that solve the problem?

Is your problem intermittant?

Are you controlling your pedal with voltages or just by turning the pots?

This is a big pic but you can see the jumper if you look for the most magnified portion of the pic.

EXTREME CLOSEUP! :open_mouth: What’s that odd design on the right side of the picture? It looks kinda cool.

I think it was one of my nieces school folders or something.

If you do a search, you’ll find a number of threads on this issue. Some of the 104Zs out there have a jumper/grounding issue that leads to your problem. My delay had that issue, but fixing it didn’t completely solve the problems I was having, which seemed like a cold solder joint. After shipping it back to Moog three times they ended up replacing circuit boards.

Your best bet is to contact Moog directly and see what their advice is. My customer service with Moog has always been great.
