Today I re-did my keyboard setup and removed my USB connections. I’m running a Yamaha UX16 USB/MIDI interface from my Mac into my keyboards (and modulars).
I tested the 0.9.29 Editor (with 1.1.14 firmware) with the MIDI interface and found a few difference than when I used the Sub 37’s USB interface. I tested both the stand-alone Editor, VST and AU versions. My Mac is running OSX 10.10.5.
When I started the stand-alone Editor the first thing I did was to change the interface in the Settings section from the Sub 37 to the UX16. Even though the interface was connected to the Sub 37 the status at the bottom of the screen read “Disconnected”. I restarted the stand-alone Editor and got the message “Invalid Sysex 192”. In addition, there was no preset in the on-screen display even though the Sub 37 was on. Clicking the on-screen preset selector did not call up any presets. When I selected a different preset on the Sub 37 the Editor correctly reflected the Sub 37’ssettings but the name was garbled (a known issue).
I then started my DAW Reaper and proceeded to test the VST and AU versions of the Editor. I had to change the interface settings again to Yamaha UX16. With the VST the message I received was “Invalid Sysex 59”. The AU displayed “Disconnected”. Both required a switch of presets on the Sub 37 before they would display presets or allow me to switch presets from the Editor software. Interesting thing though; The presets displayed in the AU list of presets were very incomplete and in no identifiable order. The VST had even fewer also in no particular order. Some were Moog presets, some my own.
I also noticed the Categories were messed up. Presets which were defined on the Sub 37 as “Misc” came up as “Keys”. Presets listed as “Lead” came up as “Res Lead”.
One thing to note is that I did NOT re-GET all my presets through the MIDI interface. I’ll give this a try tomorrow and see what happens.
That’s all for now…
