Re: M32 envelope design (what where they thinking?)

What you're calling a design flaw is, in fact, a design choice. That choice may have been influenced by cost, but it was implemented on purpose. A more complicated envelope would have required another knob or two, more circuitry... so which current M-32 feature would you give up for it? And do you t...

Re: KB cv output calibration?

Interesting finding: If I patch the KB to Mix 2, crank the mix knob all the way to left, and plug the mix out to the filter cutoff, I can play the filter's self-oscillation in perfect tune with the oscillator across a wide range. But plug KB directly to cutoff and it won't track well. The same mixer...

Re: LFO Rate Sync

Although you can use the Assign output with a sequencer-synced, stepped LFO. (decimated ramp, etc.)
Assign is not going to give you smooth output, tempo divisions or multiples, or any signal at all unless the sequencer is running.

No, it's free running and not sync'd.

Re: NM32D

Great session - I like how the self-oscillation in the first half almost seems to be playing a different sequence in counterpoint. "Single Oscillator" isn't quite the pejorative it used to be, eh?

Re: NM32D

Very nice, it is a clever little box. Great sequencer, nonstop fun.

What's your serial range? Above 600, below 1000? (Trying to figure out how many they're cooking up.)

Re: KB cv output calibration?

I've never played a VCO VCF synth that has 100% perfect tracking. Yes, the calibration tool is to scale the tracking response. It was done by a Moog tech before it left the factory, with professional meters and scopes. I would never in a million years start adjusting those tiny flimsy trimpots. You'...

Over Attenuation on Filter & Mixer?

Just wondering if this is normal Moog behavior. 1. As the M-32's resonance is raised, the filter signal gets quieter. A lot quieter. I don't remember past Moog filters losing so much volume with resonance. Normal? I know some filters do this, didn't know the good old Moog ladder was one of them. (My...

Ted, Yeah, not a bad concept..... Not sure about the oscilloscope, as it would add cost with no true function except for looks, but it would be fun. I like having a built in keyboard, as in my mind, a proper synth should have one, but it, too, adds cost and when you get right down to it, who really...

Fantasy Phatty

I was thinking about what my ultimate Moog synth would be. A keyboardless desktop unit, with a classic wood and metal case. The Little Phatty analog engine, with added noise, ring mod, and a small switch-based modulation bus. A knob/switch-per-function. Analog VU meter or a small CRT oscilloscope, o...

Analog Days is incredible - one of my favrite books. Check out the Moog documentary if you haven't: www.moogmovie.com Very good, though it does not have a ton of archival footage. As for books: It's not about analog synths, but it reminds me a lot of Analog Days, and it does touch on computer music....

I would like a free Little Phatty

Yes, my subject line is true. After many months of thinking about the new Moog synth, I have decided I would very much like a free one. It was not an easy decision to make. There are over 2 factors to consider, the least of which is the freeness. 1. The Little Phatty is awesome 2. Imagine it being f...
