Re: got my cp-251 and my mf-102, now what?

so i just got my cp-251, and i went through the manual as best i could. i'm not very good with terms like "voltage" and "VCTG's" so i had a hard time making sense of it. i hooked it up to my prodigy, and i managed to get the sample and hold effect going, but wasn't too impressed...

What I think is that people should have to answer a few synth related questions correctly before getting confirmed to the list. Like what is the common dB per octave rolloff of a filter. Or an envelope typically has four stages, name the second one. A few questions like that would keep them all off...

Re: OT: Want to learn the synth...

so these past few months i've been pretty interested in synths and whatnot and would like to someday go out and buy one. problem is, i haven't touched a piano seriously since i was in 5th or 7th grade (it's been a looong time). i'm not really interested in doing those fast classical pieces or whate...

if you want to hear how it effect a VCO at 200 hz, then you'd need another VCO of at least 200 hz so that it can sample each period of the waveform? the nyquist frequency ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nyquist_frequency ) is the minimum frequency you can sample at to accurately encode the maximum f...

Right, you won't get into the audio range with just the cp-251 LFO. I used the square out from a VCO as the clock, any audio source (drum machine, whatever) plugged into the input, and the output (you might want to attenuate) to the mixer or amp. i stand corrected. yes, the cp251 s/h circuit actual...

well, look on the bright side. maybe they're too busy trying to get the little phatty out the door to moderate the list.

nothing from synthesizers.com will really convert a v/oct signal to a v/hz signal directly since all the standard modules can do is linearly scale one voltage range to another. same thing with the cp251. well, this isn't entirely true. one hack that i've tried is to use a synthesizers.com vca to do ...

convert v/oct to v/hz

how would people on this forum go about converting a v/oct cv signal to v/hz? i've got a few metasonix modules that i want to use with a hodgepodge of moogerfoogers and synthesizers.com gear, but i'd like to get a more even response from the metasonix stuff. for example, if you use the unpatched s/h...

user moderation needed

i run a small forum elsewhere ( http://www.toypiano.org/forums -- not much activity yet, but i haven't given up hope... ), and i have noticed the same thing. there are several new users every week, and i have to check it daily and delete all the fake ones. it seems that there is some kind of automat...

can you plug audio signals into the input and plug the out into an amp? there's only one way to find out... but no, not really, since the circuit can only really sample at frequencies in the sub-audio range, you won't hear much if you do this. of course you may hear more if you tape the output and ...

I don't have a cp251 because I have a doepfer/ana.sys/blacet/wiard rig that I use extensively with the voyager (I ultimately chose the voyager because of its power as a controller, although it does sound quite nice, too :)). The touchpad's outs, particularly, seem to get heavily used, but I also us...

Re: sample and Hold

Doesn't anyone else have any good Sample and Hold applictions??? Anyone? i always feel like i can never have enough sample and hold circuits. anyway, since you asked, i mentioned in an earlier thread how useful having two cp251s is. i can't remember if i wrote about exactly what i do with them. one...

while all new intel-based macs can run windows xp, i'm pretty sure they don't come with windows pre-installed. i just checked the apple site and didn't see anything about this anyway. the poster may be thinking of the new "boot camp" utility that you can use to install your own non-upgrade...

so can you run any sound source through a cp's sample & hold? there's an "in" jack for the sample and hold. I assume that you can use any sound source or lfo/control voltage as the source that is sampled (so you could get 'step' kind of sounds by sampling a sine/triangle/sawtooth wave...

one other thing worth mentioning about the cp251 sample and hold is that it's a very high quality circuit that's pre-patched in very useful ways. compared to other sample/hold circuits i've tried, the moog one holds the sampled voltage for a very long time while on other circuts the voltage begins t...
