Re: Sending midi to ableton from moog

I'm guessing the midi keyboard also serves as a midi interface for the computer . . . but I may be wrong. FWIW, I've controlled my Slim with Live before using a Novation SL MKII, in which case, I connected USB from my Mac to the Novation, and the midi in-and-out to the Phatty. In this setup, ...

Re: Moog steals the show at Radiohead concert

wow, a Buchla . . . very cool. A Buchla modular setup is definitely in my distant future, but first I have to figure out how to make a shitload of money. Indeed I've heard (and seen in pix) that the south island is even more breathtaking than the north, and next time I go I'm just going to fly...

Re: Moog steals the show at Radiohead concert

Yep, they were also using the P08 . . . mainly for pads, but you're right, it sounded very nice too. On an even happier note, I finally ordered a Voyager yesterday (slightly used PE), I'm so excited, I don't know what to do with myself for the next few days :D So joe_moog, I'll let you know if I fig...

Moog steals the show at Radiohead concert

. . . well, at least for me. :P Just saw Radiohead this week and they rolled out the Moog Voyager for some beefy leads and melodies. It seemed to outshine every other instrument on stage, particularly on the song Myxomatosis (sooo ffffaaattt). Anyway, if you're going to see them this tour, you're in...

Re: What makes your XL so special?

Thanks, Tommyecho. Great post, very informative, but now I want an XL even more. :) Glad to have you here. This is a great forum indeed. Looking forward to some sounds from your XL. Also, we'd love to see some photos, all patched-out and lit up.

Re: Stand for my Minimoog Voyager

Ok, since no ones mentioned it yet . . . Quik Lok makes some of the sturdiest, most versatile stands that I've seen. I have the Z-model, and its very stable. QL is also great because all of their accessories are interchangeable. Check them out: http://www.quiklok.com They also make heaps of studio r...

What do all you 'foogers think of the DSI Prophet?

I know this is the Moog forum, and that's mainly why I'm asking you all. Give me the lowdown on the Prophet, everything you know/think/feel, likes dislikes, etc. I've only been around one once, briefly, but didn't get to play with it (the staff was unboxing it at a shop in NY on my last visit). Only...

Re: What makes your XL so special?

wow, Cpt, that was very comprehensive and informative. Much love and thanks for your response, your input has definitely helped me get closer to a decision. Luckily, it'll take me until May to save up the money, so I still have time to weigh out my options and make the best choice. On the other hand...

Re: Kurzweil Ribbon Controller with Moog?

Excellent. Thanks for getting back to us, CZ Rider, appreciate the info. I'll be honest, I already have a Doepfer r2m ribbon controller, I use it with the Phatty. But when I saw how good the Kurzweil looked with the Voyager, I had to find out if it was comparable, or possibly superior to the r2m. Gu...

Kurzweil Ribbon Controller with Moog?

I believe I've seen photos on here where someone has a Kurzweil ribbon controller on their Voyager. Would you mind explaining to me how it works? Does it use CV, MIDI, or both? And, do you use it to control filters and modulations, or pitch? Thanks. :)

Re: What makes your XL so special?

Ah yes, when you put it in terms of MFU's it really does seem practical. Let the saving commence . . . or, continue rather. :D

Re: Warm up issue

Apps and plug-ins are great, but if you happen to find yourself using any sort of CV pitch controller and have the auto-tune turned off, you'll probably want to check your tuning often (particularly playing live). I picked up a small korg chromatic tuner for a little over 10 bucks, then I ran a shor...

Re: What makes your XL so special?

I don't own one, but I can list the reasons why I want one... 1) Value. Even if I bought a Voyager, ribbon controller, VX351, and CP251 it would add up to more than the going price and still not have 61 keys. 2) It has 61 keys. 3) It's a VOYAGER with 61 keys. 4) I like big heavy synthesizers, and t...
