"Actually, Janice played guitar and Floyd played bass." I kinda knew that too, I had a twinge of doubt when I typed my list. I remembered thinking that there was a contradiction that Floyd was a bassist but sang the song "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", but then I thought, this ca...

I watched the Muppet Show pretty religiously when I was a kid - I bet I could at least do some of the voices! One of my favorite episodes was the one with the drum battle between Buddy Rich and Animal - if I remember correctly, Buddy Rich won, but Animal broke his bass drum over Buddy Rich's head! I...

music by hieronymous featuring Moogerfoogers

Hey everybody, I've been hanging out at this forum for quite a while, and finally decided to post a link to my music. Discovering the world of Moogerfoogers, which later led to the acquisition of a couple of Moog keyboards, has totally affected my musical identity. These things are such powerful too...

Re: MF101, Expression pedals and chain placement questions

I was wondering if anyone knew what commercially available expression pedals besides the EP1 will work with the MF101. And finally, where do you guitarists place your LPF in your signal chain. I use a Roland EV-5 as my expression pedal. Maybe not the greatest, but much better than the EP1, IMO. Ide...

Thanks MC - I would definitely love to get the 17 note Fatar, but I'm hoping that since I'm in Japan I should be able to get the Roland pedals for about what they go for in the States, whereas I haven't seen the Fatar stuff here, and even if I did I'm sure it would be at least 150%-200% US price... ...

Hi QWave - thanks for the encouragement! Fortunately, I'm NOT expecting to sound like a Taurus I - I've used my Rogue for drones, etc., so I know what to expect sound-wise. I find that running it through the MoogerFooger Phaser really beefs up the sound. Maybe instead of saying I want to turn my Rog...

using Rogue like a Taurus II

Hey everybody! I need some advice. I have a Rogue, which I love. While I would love some Taurus pedals (I or II), I don't see myself buying them anytime soon - although recently there were three Taurus IIs selling on EBay at once , I live in Japan, and I was thinking of a creative solution: G...

Frank Zappa and Moog

Just found something interesting. In the liner notes to Frank Zappa's 1972 album Waka/Jawaka , it states: "Thanks to Bob Moog & Co. for the use of their new frequency shifter." (Found it on the 1988 CD, not sure if it's on the vinyl) I wonder what this is? At 8:04 into the last track o...

There's an article in the New York Times online today about Mr. Moog and the film:

Short but sweet: "Lonesome Electric Turkey" from Frank Zappa's Fillmore East: June 1971 , Minimoog solo by Don Preston. He does some stuff on there that I haven't heard other people do, like have the pitch warble at a really slow rate and what sounds like flipping the octave switch with on...

One of my favorite Moog solos is by Don Preston on Frank Zappa's "Fillmore East, June 1971" album. The solo is called "Lonesome Electric Turkey" and is apparently an excerpt from "King Kong". In fact, just the other day I was thinking of putting together a mix of my fav...
