Re: Winter NAMM 2014 ..rumours?
There has been mentions of a new instrument related to Moogfest, also there has been a registration of the name "SP TRIBUTE" by Moog Music. That's all I know at this point.

Re: Sub phatty - plastic coating on front panel coming off
Yes, all modern Moog products, and also Dave Smith Instruments use these lexan overlays afaik. It's because they are supposed to be durable, easy to replace, and still fairly low cost to manufacture.

Re: Duophony / 1 note per oscillator in Moogs
Alright I´m gonna download the manual for it and check it out. Even if the voice allocation is random it could be cool! Was thinking of getting a row of euros for effects, modulation and stuff and I know there is a slick module by Mutable Instruments coming out soon that can do those kinds of trick...

Re: Duophony / 1 note per oscillator in Moogs
For synths with CV/GATE you could get a "polyphonic" MIDI to CV/GATE interface to get that feature. One example is the Kenton PRO 2000 Mk II that offers up to four voices of polyphony through CV/GATE. :) I was just looking at that! So I´m a bit daft, are you saying I could "polychain...

Re: Duophony / 1 note per oscillator in Moogs
This is exactly what I´m talking about! It´s also such a shame that Moog won´t allow us to do polychaining between different Moog synths! With the synths I have I could be making three note chords or six note chords with duophony! :D For synths with CV/GATE you could get a "polyphonic" MI...

Re: Duophony / 1 note per oscillator in Moogs
That might have been cool back before polys, but it doesn't make much sense for a modern monophonic synth. If you have multiple synths, you can achieve the same thing. A firmware option would not be possible because the oscillators all respond to the note information the same. Sorry but what you're...

Re: Duophony / 1 note per oscillator in Moogs
I think that the OP is speaking about duophony as i.e. the ARP Odyssey offered. There's actually a very small theoretical change to add such duophony to any monophonic instrument with two oscillators. If my memory serves me right, ARP achieved duophony on the Odyssey by having one oscillator set to ...

Re: SP Tribute?
Imagine everybodys disappointment when it turns out to be a Slim Phatty Tribute.
Unless it's like a racked Sub Phatty, that would be welcome indeed.

Re: My desire, the evolution of the Sub Phatty...
And in the meantime... Dave Smith Instruments announces the Mopho Special Edition Keyboard ;P As always, the advice to "try before you buy" would apply here. Some people like the sound of those DSI filters, some hate them. Same with the DSI oscillators. However, it is nice to see a new 44...

Re: My desire, the evolution of the Sub Phatty...
Erm, seriously. Why all the flak? Some points (in no specific order) 1. The Sub Phatty is $999 USD on Sweetwater.com. How is $1700 "too cheap" for one extra VCO and a slightly larger keyboard? 2. The Voyager has two filters, The Sub Phatty has one. 3. The Voyager is arguable made of higher...

My desire, the evolution of the Sub Phatty...
I'd like to see a synth from Moog that takes the features of the Sub Phatty, replacing the sub-osc with a full 3rd oscillator, and in a housing that carries the original Little Phatty keybed.
Priced at $1700 USD or so.
