Maybe it has something to do with the effected sound is not a processed version of your input signal, but the sound of the input signal modulating an internal oscillator.

I can't wait until another MF comes out! They really need a CP-xxx sequencer even though I don't need one now.

The Doepfer seemed complicated so I got the Manikin Schrittmacher instead.
