Re: Minimoog Uncommon Sounds

No offense, but I can't stand that video. That's not what a model D sounds like, or only after it's been eviscerated by digital processing. At least he could have had the real sound of the mini mixed in with the effects. But it still sounds better than any digital synth I have heard. None taken, Bu...

Minimoog Uncommon Sounds

A friend of mine sent this video to me a long time ago. I just came across it again. It sort of explains how great this little beast is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agFgMYp97yY

Re: Pink Floyd Cover (Keyboards)

My friend, Neil Alexander, was the keyboard player for the Pink Floyd Tribute Band called the Machine. His final rig, when he left the band were two Kurzweil PC88 controllers and a Korg MS2000 analog modeling synth. All controlled by a Lake Butler Midi Midigator. During Neil's years with the band, h...

Re: prototype

For me personally, I've played on a 32 notes MG-1 for many years (it didn't have octave switching per say, you had to be really quick to flip both toggle switches on each oscillators), and 32 notes is a bare minimum. 44 notes is acceptable, 61 is good, 76 and 88 are overkill, especially on a monoph...

Re: prototype

I think the idea is that if you're not a serious keyboardist, 25 keys is enough. If you are a serious keyboardist, you would also have a master keyboard that's much larger. Ugh, I'm sorry to focus on your response instead of the millions of others, but here it is. It's a monophonic keyboard. You on...

Re: Hammond tonewheel organ (midi?)

Keith Emerson used a C3 on the Black Moon tour that had Midi. Will Alexander his tech at the time wasn't crazy about it. I do not know who did the conversion, But Emerson does use Goff Professional in Connecticut for all his Hammond work. http://www.popeye-x.com/tech/willalexander.htm

Re: Dinner with Rush

My first experience with Rush was the album, Hemispheres. After listening to it more, and getting used to Geddy Lee's voice, I could really appreciate their musicianship. There was a huge void in music at that time. ProgRock was dead but Rush had a Prog sound and Hard Rock at the same time. This spa...

Re: Rick Wakeman live from '75

I listened to Close To The Edge so much that I had to purchase a second one as a back up. The three Prog Rock standards are Selling England by the Pound by Genesis, Trilogy by ELP and of course Close to the Edge by Yes.......... IMHO. It all probably started with, In the Court of the Crimson King by...
