Re: Real Time Control with Envelope

Hi BravePriestess, the easiest way to do this is to use a theremin which puts out control voltages from pitch and volume circuits as well as shaping the theremin's audio signal itself. These CVs can then be used to control anything on a synthesizer which has a CV input (filter cutoff etc). Suitable ...

Re: Hello, I'm new, thanks for letting me join and a questio

Hi Julian,

another user, Victoria323, posed a question with similar issues to yours, on the same day. See my response to that message, and my response to another user a few days ago - may be helpful.

Cheers,

Re: A total beginner, needs help!

Hi Victoria323, a few points to check: 1) Is there any metal in the vicinity? Theremin sitting on a table with metal braces directly under it etc? A cable near the antennae? Such things can affect range, dynamics etc. Otherwise, it may need calibrating, although a brand-new, fully assembled instrume...

PS _Don't_ use an American power supply in Europe, the voltages are wrong.

Re: Theremin grounded

Hi Miriam, I know this problem. it is one of the _bad_ things from the Moog supplier in Germany (where I live), for instance, that the only European Etherwave power supply available is 2-pin, without a ground connection. Some years ago I bought a spare for my EW, and took issue with the supplier abo...

Re: New Etherwave Plus User: startup questions

Hi Phusana, obvious things first: 1) Is the theremin on a mic stand or similar, or sitting on a table - possibly with metal underneath it? Metal in the surroundings can throw the capacitive response of the antennae so far off that nothing works. 2) Are there any cables hanging too near the volume an...

Re: Many questions....

HI Caoer, I don't have an EW+, only EW with my own hotrodding, but I might be able to help. 1) Distance should be somewhat larger. Sounds like an internal calibration problem, not front panel. Should be instructions in the documentation; it's a matter of adjusting one high-frequency inductor inside ...

:-) I'd like to have ago at you as well, in a positive sense - shake your hand for being so fortunate to own those wonderful instruments (as well as the other ones you've shown in various photos etc)! Sorry about the totally irrelevant, off-topic reply, I just couldn't resist it. Anyone who goes neg...

Re: Greatly extended pitch antenna range

Hi Sakurasanta (do you really mean 'Sacred Cherry? combination of Japanese and Italian?) You may get more response posting to the theremin list, but here goes... Not from the engineering side, but practice-oriented. I use my EWave with extended pitch range (playing it with my body, so that I can pla...

Re: Wind Synth, Voyager RME, and other controllers

Hi, finally chiming in on this discussion. I'm a professional shakuhachi player who also uses electronics, and in the past I've used a Yamaha WX7 - gave up on it because it didn't respond nearly as well as my shakuhachi... The CC mappings from a wind controller will work - up to a point. The problem...

Re: MF102 Set-Up With Mic

MF102 wants a line level input signal. Put your mic through a preamp, small mixer etc (with phantom power if the mic needs it), from there into MF102. I use this kind of setup a lot with shakuhachi going into the ringmod.

Re: MF101 - modification for separate audio signal to env.fo

Hi there, I'm the original poster about the MF101 (Big Briar version) mod. I assume that the problem you're having is with the MF101 mod, not a 107 mod. This being the case: yes, you need an audio ground path from the socket bringing in the audio signal to go to the envelope follower. If I remember ...
