Definately Emerson Lake and Palmer!
Keith Emerson was one of the first (if not THE first) rock artists to use a Moog onstage. His modular Moog system is legendary. See pix of it here on the Moog web site RE 5/18/2004 concert in NYC.

Gerry, As a fortunate owner of both an Ion and a Voyager, I can say that both boards are excellent at what they do. While the Ion can do convincing Minimoog imitations, IMHO (I'll leave the discussion on dead-on accuracy to others here), it also has filters modelled on the ARP, Boss TB-303, Roland J...

The short answer is maybe. The VX and CP expanders ARE valuable assets that will allow you to do things via voltage control that the MMV can't do by itself, but don't address audio. If the Sherman Filter Bank does not have any VC inputs, then the expanders won't do anything for you WRT the Filter Ba...

Thanks for the kind words - I've found the reference menus quite helpful myself. The menus were laid out in Excel and converted to PDF files before posting. Due to the amount of information presented, the layout was sized for 8.5 x 14 paper (legal). While it should print well at any size, the larger...

MMV OS2.1 Menu Reference Card
A few weeks ago, I put together a consolidated list of the OS 2.1 menus and posted it at the Yahoo Groups MMV site. For anyone interested, go to: http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/mmvoyager/files/MMV_MenuRef.pdf Note that you must be a member of the group to access this file. Comments or correcti...

Your explanation seems correct, at least as far as I understand how the Voyager MIDI key order is implemented. As to whether it works or not, that I can't say since I only have the Voyager and no other modular equipment. You might try sending an email to the Moog folks about this. BTW, not harm in t...

Not just filters, but also VCA's for control of individual note articulation. In effect, each note of a true polyphonic synth (think of a Memory Moog) has a complete signal path consisting of oscillator(s)-filter-amplifier for each 'voice'. The output of each voice is then mixed together to provide ...

<<... and some VCO's could I somehow hook them up, set up the Midi Key Order to each Midi to CV VCO, run those through the Voyager's External In and have a polyphonic Voyager?>> Well not quite. Even though you may get control of multiple oscillators, routing them back through the MMV external input ...

Whoops, I spoke too soon! With apologies to the Moog folks: After downloading and reviewing the CP251 manual, I found out that there is an inverter: it's built into the control voltage mixer. So it does appear that you can get the 'up' ramp you're after. It IS unfortunate that there isn't a dedicate...

<< 1. Would inverting the voltage on a 'down' ramp cause it to be an 'up' ramp? If so, then I think a simple voltage inverter circuit could invert the wave coming out of the VX351's OSC3 and you could use it to modulate whatever you want. But I don't know anything about electronics, so I have no ide...

<Have you tried the trick of turning on Glide, set the amount for a small amount, use low note priority, the as you play hold a key ( say c) then while holding down that key do a quick trill on any key below it, changing the amount will affect how pronounced the effect is. > Yep. It's a classic synt...

PB and MW issues
I have a performer edition w/lighted wheels. In the almost one year that I've owned it, a couple of things concerning the wheels has bugged me. Perhaps they have bugged other owners as well: 1. The thumb detent on both wheels should be larger, i.e. the radius of the detent should be bigger (check ou...
