Re: Predictions for new Moog Products this year

voyager rme? I dont think it can get any smaller than that. Voyager boards are covered in large IC's and discreet components and haven't gone SMD to reduce board size. Like the Taurus 3, a smaller Voyager is possible - minus patch storage, keyboard, that useless touch panel etc. Just like the Micro...

Re: Predictions for new Moog Products this year

Moog would do well to respond to the MacBeth Micromac with a cut down Voyager in a desktop Taurus like box. But most of all, I want a MP-201 replacement in a desktop format, each LFO has dedicated knobs for freq and amount.

Re: Why does the voyager not have a sine wav?

Is the sine wave the most difficult wave to synthesize? There are several sine wave core oscillators, none of which are easily and accurately controlled by voltage. But the more common triangle or saw wave core oscillators can be very accurate and much more useful for synthesis. It is possible to s...

Re: Why does the voyager not have a sine wav?

How dare the Voyager not have the most difficult to synthesise waveform with a rock solid 1V/oct performance oscillator. *Outrage*

Re: Rick Wakeman live from '75

My favorite hobby is to collect the albums of bands and play them in chronological order being fully aware of the band changes, social trends and developing skills of the musicians. The arc of the band's life fascinates me. Yes is the most bizarre journey of them all! Fragile, Close to the Edge and ...

Re: A new respect for scratching

There's only something like 200 plays before the sound degrades on vinyl. And that's without torturing it :D

Really not sure why vinyl is so important, must just be the iconic image. There's lots of new releases but just so few genres on vinyl now.

Re: A new respect for scratching

Such disrespect for delicate equipment which has achieved higher and higher standards of sound quality even after vinyl stopped being mainstream. You cannot be serious leaving a needle sitting in the one spot for even the briefest period of time (the vinyl is melting from the pressure), or drag the ...

Re: How do you pronounce "Moog" and "MoogerFooger

I don't know ANYONE who pronounces Moog at all. I just say it to myself

Hint to retail: If the customer completely screws up pronouncing 'Moog' or 'Doepfer' or 'Cwejman', don't laugh at them. You just lost a sale.

Re: Modular bits to add to Voyager

New cabinet? Very nice! I'm experimenting with an external oscillator into the Voyager pitch input and I gotta say its ugly. Sounds muddy. Modulating freqs above a few kHz get filtered out so a sweep from low to high from an external oscillator flattens out to no modulation above a certain pitch. Ha...

Re: Modular bits to add to Voyager

One bit of advice if you start mixing Eurorack with Moog gear, one of the euro modules you should invest in is a good attenuator/inverter/offset generator like the Synovatron CVTools since the "standard" for voltages in euro is hardly a standard at all and you may find yourself wanting to...

Re: Modular bits to add to Voyager

http://www.cgs.synth.net/ I think they are in Oz. Yes indeed. elby-designs.com sells them. Not in my state, but definitely doable. Completely forgot about those. And the mythical International 4600 DIY synth which was too ambitious for anyone to build. Worth the read for me because I lusted after a...

Re: Modular bits to add to Voyager

There's a lot of big decisions to make. MU vs Eurorack. Prebuilt system vs. mix'n'match. Complete modular vs. add-on modules for a Voyager. Biggest one right now is the format. Can't find anyone in Australia who supplies major MU systems, just a few boutique modules. But Eurorack is easily available...

Re: Modular bits to add to Voyager

OMG Pittsburgh Foundation... Big knobs for those who would keep clear of Eurorack. I can see it as both self contained and expanding the Voyager. On the bad side: Juggling 1/4" and 1/8" plugs with the Voyager. Its silver. Going Eurorack when I said I wouldn't  I will take a headache ...

Re: Modular bits to add to Voyager

Thanks for the graphic details, Erik. Your earlier posts on moduar patching pushed me to do something at last. I do want to go MU. I could get Eurorack from several suppliers in Australia and I'm sure its more practical, but a picture of a dotcom system and I know what I want. Actually, kits sound p...
