Re: Moog Music UK 90s Minimoog?
Thanks for the pic EricK! :D Probably found it here on the forum. That does look like it was scavenged for parts. A few knobs missing and the pitch/mod wheel gone. Might not have ever worked? Not sure if there are electronics or just a mock up to show at NAMM 2000. Would be great to see a higher res...

Re: Moog Music UK 90s Minimoog?
Looks like more of a test fixture than a fake or prototype. Photo with Bob and the same Voyager test fixture. http://i60.tinypic.com/8xpq88.jpg Another pic of the early prototype shown at winter NAMM 2000. (Non-working.) http://i59.tinypic.com/24w4npw.jpg And a photo of the same proto missing parts....

Sounds great! Will this be a book or an article? I'm going to request a signed copy if a book.BrianK wrote:. I've been asked to write something on the long history and have been pursuing it for years, it's fairly complete, so it should be "out" soon.

Re: Minimoog model D differences
I have two Minimoogs side by side. The 104XX, next to the 41XX. The 104XX sounds brighter/buzzier. It also has the newer oscillator card. I am exploring why there are these "not so subtle" differences. I could swap filter boards, but building a clone with a rotary switch is an easier way t...

Re: Minimoog model D differences
Looking at the differences in board no.4 right now, with the filter and dual VCA's. Although there were always minor differences between Mini's manufactured at the same time. I did notice more of a drastic sonic difference when comparing a newly made Buffalo Mini back in late 1977/ early 1978 when I...

A sad day for the entire synth community, we lost a great one. Rest in Peace Kevin. My condolences to his friends and family. Kevin touched all our lives in so many ways, and will be sorely missed by all of us. All of Kevin's contributions, insights, and work has been greatly appreciated, and ...

Re: Minimoog model D differences
Interesting. But isn't the CA3046 only used as current mirror for generating the exponential current to drive the oscillator frequency ? Not sure what else to call/identify the common oscillator board ? Many call this the early board and is confusing because the discrete R.A.Moog is really the earl...

Minimoog model D differences
Had a little time to get some scope shots of the different Minimoog oscillator board waveforms. I only have the CA3046 type used stock on almost all from below serial 10175, and the uA726 type used on all above serial 10175. Only the first few hundred or so Mini's had the original discrete oscillato...

Re: Keith Emerson’s personal Model D on eBay
TIS97S is not a "selected" part. They were a product code from the manufacturer of some tighter spec. That convention has been used for decades and still continues today with ICs. Actually it looks like they were "selected". From the Sonic Six Service Manual: http://i60.tinypic....

Re: Keith Emerson’s personal Model D on eBay
I guess the only one's who could answer what the S in the TIS97S indicates, would be someone involved in assembly at the Moog factory. All the other matched TIS97 do not have that S suffix on the parts list and they are marked with a different color dot. The S could stand for selected or just screen...

Re: Keith Emerson’s personal Model D on eBay
Sorry for the confusion... All a learning process. I'm always learning something new here. The purple and blue are close, almost have to look under the right light. Still have never seen any indication they used matched top and bottom pairs on a Mini though. That would be Micromoog, Taurus, Prodigy...

Re: Keith Emerson’s personal Model D on eBay
I have no info here indicating Moog ever matched the ladder filter top and bottom transistor pairs on a Minimoog. Perhaps confused with those later designs that used a CA3046 transistor array? Those models had the top and bottom ladder pairs matched using the CA3046 array. The old schematics do inde...

Re: ? Moog Model E343C CV, V/S trigger out, knobs?
Moog made both. A Taurus II with the remote synthesizer. And the Taurus II Controller for anyone that just needed the pedals to interface with an existing synthesizer. Differences are the Controller has on board electronics for the CV/gate out and is missing the threaded bushing and internal metal b...

Re: X Y controller...
Yeah, no return to center makes the 959 a bit tough for pitchbending. Have to really use your ears to get back in tune and some live playing situations could be difficult. But I would imagine the 10% setting was intended for that use on the Minimoog/Modular. The range is exactly two semitones up or ...

Those Moog accessories were made to work on a wide range of voltage supplies. There was no standard from Moog accessory ports and varied from the +10/-10 of the Minimoog to the +15/-15 of the Sonic Six, Micromoog and Multimoog, and +9/-9 on the Satellite.. Acording to the Moog Accessories Service ma...
