Re: Moog CE String Filter
It's probably NOT what you're expecting, when you hear it. The String Filtercreates a set of resonant "bumps and dips" in the spectrum as you play up/down the keyboard. Which is what a wooden, resonant body of a violin or cello does. It has a much better sound when used with a super-simple...

Re: 907 fixed filter bank question...
Here's a photo of the Chris Swansen system from NMC (formerly Cantos Museum) in Canada. His 907 also had the bypass switch and dymos from the factory. Oops "board attachment quota has been reached!" No pics today.... sorry.

Re: 907 fixed filter bank question...
That system with the organ tabs is from Emerson Myers of Catholic University, one of the very first big system orders Moog ever fulfilled, supposedly late 1967. I'm not sure how much was factory-done, but certainly much of this could have been modifications (even the knobs) easily done by anyone at ...

Re: Moog FFB Clones with inductors
ALL people using inductors are having them done by the same guy - who custom-wound a set for a hobbyist building a replica module. He's by far the cheapest, anyone doing small runs (or one-off's) wants more than that. I think he found a willing market in the small builders, so they got a good price ...

Re: Modular slide/light switches
All these lighted options (toggle/slide) turn up now and then. Just never when you want them! There are variations on each type as well, different poles, colors, etc, so be careful - or work with what you get. I found some of the lighted toggles online but with no colored lenses, easy enough to fit ...

Re: Ladies and Gentlemen start your speculations!
MC is right, it's just the connections for the poly oscillator bank - a set of oscillators that could be run through a filter (like Polymoog or Opus 3 later one) but not a fully polyphonic synthesizer. They made a few of these, used for harpsichord-like continuo passages on older Wendy Carlos record...

Re: Build and Sell a modern version of the Moog "Constellati
a) I don't see why Moog should "package" something that would be SO expensive and unwieldy. The Constellation was never made or sold (even Emerson used only 2 parts of it), and WHO do we know that has skills to play not only two keyboards but bass pedals as well? That's theater organ stuff...

Re: Just got Model D #547x and need advice.
As the serial number is under #6000 - doesn't it need an octave buffer installed? That modification is factory-done on Minimoogs above #6000 as I recall, and can be seen on the top edge as two small screws behind the upper wood strip. I know Kevin Lightner has some of these kits, and they don't ruin...

Re: Polymoog Keyboard: A Plea For More Respect
I love the polymoog - those versions that are programmable. I had three different ones, each better shape than the one before. I found the presets and preset-only version of the Keyboard to be rather dull-sounding. However, with the controls, one can do some wonderful sounds. It IS very different th...

Re: Just got Model D #547x and need advice.
With the serial number under #6000, doesn't it need a buffer board added, just for general use? A factory mod that I find very worthwhile on any older Minimoog....

Re: 907 fixed filter bank question...
One Moog employee designed a 914 bank to have controls over each band, and the sequencer would turn them on/off in patterns. Another great concept! We need some schematics for this. Sorry - none available, it was MUCH more complex than I described (more options and features, but that's the basic id...

Re: Found info on the 901D and a modular patch book
Aha! Mystery solved - I pulled out the old 1967 catalog itself (which I think it one of the coolest Moog items ever made!) and it's not clear but fairly obvious the top of the panel has a small number followed by one word. Five letter word - almost certainly just MIXER. The three knobs have the same...

Re: Found info on the 901D and a modular patch book
Thinking on it being a 962 two-channel mixer; there's not much point in it being in that system (one osc) or the Manny Ghent rig (which is the Moog factory synth in a early stage) as he has too many oscillators to "handle". I do love the sound of the 984 mixer as a general tone shaper, tho...
