Re: Share your synthesizer music!

My humble cover of this Genesis song from the album Abacab. Tony Banks used a Prophet 5, but I used a Minimoog D, a Prophet REV2, a VC-340 and a DeepMind 12, along with a Univox SR-95.

Enjoy.

Re: No Reply From Moog Support?

A pitch bend wheel that can precisely give you a given pitch when fully up, or down, is something that hasn't always existed. Back in the days of fully analog machines, like my vintage Minimoog D, the pitch range of that wheel is not adjustable and varies a little, from one Minimoog to the next. And...

Re: No Reply From Moog Support?

I think that the moderators of this forum locked that thread because it was getting filled more and more with personal insults and was going off the tracks. Your last reply here is also tainted with the much of the same. If you have an anger management issue, might I suggest that you consult and get...

Re: Voyager XL!

Nice, but simply an overpriced Voyager with a CP251, and VX351 and a ribbon controller. Nothing really new. Bob Moog himself would not have been too impressed by this, I think. Mike Adams (the big boss at Moog Music) has little clue as to what musicians want, or need. We want a POLYPHONIC Moog!!! No...

Everything is normal...

All Moog Voyagers that I've seen, or heard were the same as yours. Even the Old School model. That's the way Bob designed the third oscillator I guess. Don't know exactly why, but it is a fact. Maybe it could be because oscillator 3 can also serve as an lfo ?

Interesting that you mention the P'08, because I purchased one largely because it's one of the few "affordable" (I use the term reluctantly) new polyphonic synths. I don't hear aliasing, but I can make it distort and get some interesting overtones. The latter I don't mind nearly as much. ...

Slightly off topic, but I've yet to meet to meet a digital synth that can pass the "Winkels Test" (sort of like the Turing Test, but easier to replicate). What is the Winkels Test? Simple. Take a polyphonic synth. Set up a fairly harmonically rich sustaining patch with some detuning and m...

...Do not want to be tested by anybody btw :-) Did you even listen to sample? If so, just tell us what synth played when please... Yes, I have listen. Found both samples good sounding. Hope it's O.K. to "all of us"? :-) До скорого. Ага. Привет участникам соревнований! Hahaha! I und...

Re: More direct comparison between analog and digital

...P.S. That Alesis is (was) cheap unit... If by cheap you meant inexpensive, agreed. Although its DSP driven sound engine is far from cheap sounding. Anyway, besides the still informative comment you made, I'm curious as to why you wouldn't take the challenge of answering the test? If the Ion is a...

I'd start with NovaMusik. http://www.novamusik.com Call them, don't order on the website. Their stock is never updated on the website. But they are very friendly people and very knowledgeable about synths. I've had nothing but good experiences with them. I second that suggestion. One of my friend b...

...In my experience, the difference between analog and digital is much more noticeable when you start sending lots of modulation around to different destinations, especially with things like audio-rate modulation sent to the filter cutoff. And high filter resonance never sounds quite the same on a ...

i had a really hard time hearing the difference between the two. I noticed a very slight difference, but not enough to distinguish which is which. plus i bombed the last test that psy did. LOL! Don't get discouraged by your earlier results. You have 1 chance in 2 to get it right again. But s...

More direct comparison between analog and digital

Recently I've programmed a Taurus-like Bass sound on the Voyager. I've carefully reproduced the same patch on my Alesis Ion. In this audio sample, I manually play a short sequence of notes on one synth, then the same thing on the other synth. At the end I play one note on one synth, then the same no...
