Re: Moogy Christmas!
Hope everyone has a great holiday! My 2014 Moogy Christmas photo. http://i61.tinypic.com/r1y05c.jpg And for a nice listen, recorded in 2011, a modular Moog multi track holiday tune. Christmas Eve on a 1969 Moog Other than the Emu procussion drum track it is all 1969 R.A.Moog. All tracks straight Moo...

Re: Why does this Modular sound so incredible ?
Another not well documented issue with the 901 was the early ones up to about late 1967, used a diode string of four germanium paired diodes in the current source. (8 diodes total.) When you hear stories about the early Carlos SOB days where a slight breeze in the direction of the 901's would send t...

Re: Daisy chained voyagers
A two voice Voyager worked out really well. Controlling both Voyagers on the same MIDI channel but not sending any Voyager knob info to either unit. The Voyager MIDI knob CC sends are only about 255 steps end to end, while internally the resolution is higher. Very noticable stepping tuning oscillato...

Re: 904b schematic verify
Next best thing would be diagram of the parts layout on the 904B board. Looks like a few schematics and drawings were posted by the BMF recently. One of them was the layout for the one 904B board. Sure enough C19 does go the -6 rail. Was the brown chicklet from that pic of the later revision 904B. I...

Re: Found a Minimoog Model D that needs some TLC
Thanks for the link. Those are similar but not really the same. More of a "teapot" shape, where the originals have very little taper. My set is good, was just pointing out they are original and not odd replacements. The "teapot" shape may be a redesign as they were said to break ...

Re: Found a Minimoog Model D that needs some TLC
Nice restoration and photos! Thanks for sharing. Always like to see progress on such fun and rewarding projects like this Minimoog. Not sure if I should replace the chickenfoot knobs (they aren't original or correct) or just leave them. Those would be the correct ones for that year Minimoog. Not sur...

Re: 904a question
Absolutely, and a good point. Not only is switching the caps changing the frequency range on the filter, but also the regeneration response/range. I'm still in the planing stage for a Minimoog filter clone that switches caps like the 904A does. Interested to hear if there is a difference between the...

Re: 904a question
The switching ranges on the 904A was to get oscillation in any range. But the original 60's made 904A's did not self oscillate. Wasn't untill a later revision change they decided the sine oscillation was a good thing and lowered the feedback resistor. My stock summer of 1969 built 904A did not self...

Re: 904a question
Not sure why Bob Moog decided to switch in/out capacitor values to get the different ranges? The original 904 bandpass was quoted as having a three octave range and Bob's first filter. That one made sense as the three octave range could be shifted and had 4 range settings via switched capacitors. Th...

Re: Sonic Six Filter Change...
In the Modifications section of the manual you downloaded, page 48. (Next to last page) The manual describes the differences and changes to be made. The changes listed are the external input resistors to change the serial 1265 to 1300 units to respond to 1 volt per octave. Indicating the 1265 to 130...

Re: Sonic Six Filter Change...
According to the Norlin issued Sonic V/VI service manual, serials of 1264 and below used the original filter design with the diode ladder. And the schematics with the revised Moog style transistor ladder were serial 1265 and above. I have never seen the Sonic V/VI service manual online? http://i61.t...

Re: Moog Liberation cv to midi using Novation bass station r
Next time I'll read the user manual more carefully before writing useless info. http://forum.anafrog.com/phpBB/images/smilies/palm.gif It's all good! If we stop writing responses there won't be much of a user group. Wish I had thought of it sooner when someone asked if the Liberation could b...

Re: Moog Liberation cv to midi using Novation bass station r
That cable looks like the correct one. Might want to try the alligator jumper just to be sure it works the way you want before investing in a special cable. Just needs one alligator jumper between the small male S-trigger tab and the tip of a 1/4" cable to get the trigger. The CV cable carries ...

Re: Moog Liberation cv to midi using Novation bass station r
You will just need to make a female 2-prong cinch-jones type to 1/4" cable adapter for the gate input. There is a setting on the Bass Station Rack to accept positive gates or Moog S-triggers. Setting 02 or 05 is for S-triggers. Should be noted that this controlling from the Liberation will only...

Re: Wheres A440 on a 921b Osc ?
The modular Moog series controllers did vary a bit with what the low end voltage would be. The 952 keyboard is centered on zero volts for middle "C". So the low "C" would be -2 volts output giving a -2 to +2 volt range. The 950/951 has low "C" at zero volts giving a 0 t...
