Re: Model D - dead headphones out
Well, I'm not sure what fixed it, but it's fixed. For now at least... I changed all electrolytes on the PSU (and rectifier board, as preventive measures), but that didn't do the trick. I cleaned the edge connectors of the filter and PSU board and that didn't do the trick either. I then went on to su...

Re: Model D - dead headphones out
Thanks!
Would I have to desolder the transistors in order to check them, or could I simply use small crocodile clips to measure them while on the board?
Regards
/Jonas

Model D - dead headphones out
Just received a Model D, s/n 78xx. ua726 oscillator board. It's cosmetically stunning and the keyboard is fully refurbished, so it plays great. Sounds great too. (The synth, not the keyboard...) Unfortunately, the headphone out is broken. It's almost, but not completely silent. The little sound it m...

The oscillators share a single CV bus I suspect?
Ah, well, maybe in Voyager MKII.

@RL: Could an OS upgrade make the Voyager paraphonic?
Watching the demo of the new Sub 37 - wow! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0N4xntZbdW0 I'm not a huge fan of the kind of surgical precision of the Sub's sound, but some of those features seem great. And what really makes me envious is its paraphony. Sooo, my immediate thought was - could the analogue...

Re: Why so many dead OSCs?
I now clearly hear some kind of steppings of the filter when the resonance is cranked up (a bit like the prophet 600 filter steppings...) Have you turned off Parameter Display? If you have the Voyager hooked up to something like a DAW via MIDI, you'll often get stepping. With most DAW's and the usu...

Re: Voyager tuning: OSC1 range not sufficient
Scaling on most osc is a back and forth affair, not a turn a pot once to range. Play the initial note and tune it with tuning pot. Play the ocatves above and adjust scaling pot in the direction needed. Go back to initial note and readjust tuning with tuning pot. Play the octaves above and turn scal...

Re: Perfect Partner for Voyager?
Still considering the Prophet 08 or the Andromeda . . . or the new Prophet 12. Anyone had the pleasure of hearing one live? The Prophet 08 and the Andromeda are very different beasts - and with very different price tags! Also, the Andromeda is pretty hard to come by. The Prophet 08's, well, they're...

Re: Perfect Partner for Voyager?
I just got myself an old Arp Axxe. It's sort of like half an Odyssey, at third the price. It really contrasts well against the Voyager. If I'd get a poly synth, it would probably be a Prophet 600. It has its flaws, but it's like fifth the price of a Prophet 5 and it does have that fat, but dry and a...

Re: Old Voyager OS sysex files, anyone
Trust Rudi, he is the only person doing the Voyager firmware. And he is very well into the electronics of the Voyager too. He is THE Moog synth guru here in Germany and way beyond. Maybe you heard about his Lintronic modified Memory Moogs. And he designed, programmed and built the only MIDIfication...

Thanks Rudi! Are you saying that my issue could actually be because of the digital board and that this simple mod would fix it?

Re: Old Voyager OS sysex files, anyone
Strange thing, indeed. Indeed. Wouldn't have guessed that myself. But another synth tech who heard the noise immediately said that it sounded like interference from the digi board. And when I first posted about the issue here, one forum member replied that he had just upgraded the OS on his equally...

Re: Old Voyager OS sysex files, anyone
The old board is just missing the selection of several storage banks. No other feature is different. And all the newer 3.xx software should work without a single other difference on the old boards. So what is your exact problem? I am not sure if downgrading from 3.xx to s.6 might not get you in som...

Old Voyager OS sysex files, anyone
Sorry to ask for this twice! But since not everyone might be watching the topic where I originally asked for it, I thought I'd create a separate topic. I'm having some issues with my early Voyager and I've been told it can be because I'm using a new OS with an old digital board. The new board is ava...
