Very true. I forgot about that. He's done freebies at least three or four times that I can recollect.EricK wrote:Sometimes I have gotten blanket emails from Roger where he was giving modules away to a needy synthesist.

Re: Moog Model 15 modular/Club Of The Knobs vs. Synthesizers
One other great thing about Roger at Dotcom is that he's often willing to give support for products that are purchased second hand and out-of-warranty. I bought one used and non-functional module (it was more than two years old at the time) from a third party and he was very responsive in helping me...

Re: Anyone use Synthesizers.com Stuff?
Looks like I'm late to the party on this one. I went from having around 28U of Dotcom (in one of their 44U slant cabinets) only 18 months ago to having three cabinets and 88U of MU-format modules. Granted they aren't all Dotcom, but a good two-thirds of them are. The pros of Dotcom are obvious: - Tr...

Re: Moog's Next Polysynth?
Regarding the competition for monophonic synths: yes and no. Yes in the sense that a $3,000 PolyPhatty (please, Moog, do not use that name) would undercut a $3,300 Voyager Performer in terms of price. But price isn't the sole consideration. If it were, people could just buy an LP and a pair of SPs a...

Re: mg1 concertmate
Might it be a Moog Rogue instead? Both had the exact same plastic casing and keyboard... If it has pitch and mod wheels it's a Rogue, if not it's an MG-1. That, and the absence of a polyphonic section on the Rogue. It's possible too that someone just modified it along the way. "Realistic"...

Re: Moog's Next Polysynth?
...At the end of the day, we're simply talking about being able to play chords on a synth, which 3-4 SP's will allow you to do, as well as functioning as individual monosynths when they're not in poly mode. A four voice all analog Poly-Moog for around $2400 aint bad, imo....... Only $2400 ? Are you...

There's an inexhaustible supply of cretins in all industries, but some seem to have slightly higher concentrations. Shipping is one of them. You were right to video and document everything, especially with a piece of gear that had so much time invested in it. Personally I've never had big issues wit...

Re: OptoKey Minimoog D contacts now in production
Never, ever, apologize for overspeccing a component. Too many synths out there have things like mod wheels with audible staircasing because a beancounter said 7 bits of resolution are good enough. Good enough for 1986 perhaps. Not for 2011. So overspec to your heart's content. Unless, of course, it'...

I've said elsewhere that the guts of this coupled to a tabletop joystick module would be brilliant.

I can't speak to the technical issues, but they do look lovely. I don't think even the "clone" manufacturers (Mos-Lab and COTK, specifically) make use of them.
Someone please prove me wrong.

Re: Moog 55 as a drum machine
You forget the vintage modular-era Moog 931 module: Voltage Controlled Cowbell. First designed by the lesser-know Moog engineer Gene Frenkle, the 931 is the only known commercial application of the little used Dickinson-Bloom filter and noise source combination. Though it was not tremendously popula...

That was a fun little performance.
Aside from the shocking and unforgivable lack of cowbell, of course.
