Re: The Manfred Mann Minimoog/Oberheim SEM combo
The CV out was not a hack to the Minimoog, but was a last revision factory improvement. The last Minimoogs had the CV out and had the S-trigger socket properly labled as "S-trig in/out". Photo of the rear of the last revision Minimoog. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BlF8xJuPvWU/TbK59QwOjEI/AAAA...

Re: Extending the range of Minimoog Model D
The input resistors are different on the opamp summers on all VCO versions. That's an interesting difference on those latter version oscillator boards. But the other two oscillator versions have the same value input resistors on the three 1V/oct. inputs. 6A the keyboard, 7A mod input and 8A externa...

Re: so I scored 44 prat reed keys.
The keytops remove easily by the small black screw on the back/top of the key. Have to remove the white keys to access the black key removal. Can be done in sections from C to E, F to B. I just recently replaced the keytops on a Moog 952 restoration. Used Novus plastic polish to make them look new. ...

Re: Please explain the 911a
The Moog 911A was a support module for the 911 envelope generator. Simply put it made an ADSR envelope into a DADSR. And that is exactly how it works as the first stage being delay. If you release the key or S-trigger before the duration of the delay time, nothing happens. After the delay the envelo...

Re: Moog Modular Keyboard inquiry
Not much official info on those. I have gathered some info from photos and interviews. Here is an early 950 with the extra envelopes on the right side. http://i61.tinypic.com/2ewii5i.jpg Some time ago there was an Ebay auction for the electronics from an old 950. Here are a few pics from that auctio...

Re: Moog Modular Keyboard inquiry
what would you expect they are about to release? Any thoughts on tradeoffs, etc. Tough to say or guess, but I would imagine it would be a digital scanned keyboard and not an analog type resistor string. (Fatar board versus the old Pratt-Read too.) All of the old Moog keyboards used a resistor strin...

Re: Moog Modular Keyboard inquiry
Interested in hearing other ideas if anybody has anything to share in this regard. I have three of the original Moog keyboards with an old original 950, a newer standard 950 and a Norlin era 952. While those controllers are nice, I mostly use an 88 key weighted Roland MKB-1000 as the main controlle...

Re: Minimoog model D differences
Probably not too important if matching the same batch of NPN's or matching a seperate batch of PNP's together. The difference I found was without the 10K resistor the readings are in a slightly different range than with the resistor installed. Only important I would guess if matching a PNP and NPN t...

Re: Polyphonic Minimoog Model D
was that a typo on Picosong or intentional? Ooops! Typo, fixed it! Was up late playing my new ployphonic Minimoog and realized I had to get up for work in a few hours and typed quickly. The MOTM-650 unison steal works great for that and would also work on an ARP 2600 or similar modular...

Polyphonic Minimoog Model D
So what if you could somehow split the three Model D oscillators to play polyphonicly from a keyboard? I have tried the three or more Minimoog model D's or the polychained Voyagers. None of these solutions seemed like that great of a polyphonic instrument. For the Model D's one would have to change ...

Re: Moog MG-1, Rogue, and Prodigy - Filter and cap mods
And I know for a fact that finding a 50K reverse audio slider for the "emphasis" that will fit inside the slot of an MG-1 panel would be extremely difficult to find, if not impossible. LOL, kind of like looking for a radiator cap for your 1969 VW Beetle. (Air cooled!) To make a slider ant...

Re: Moog MG-1, Rogue, and Prodigy - Filter and cap mods
Something small like a mini 4-pole double throw switch might do the trick on a small Moog. Here is a surplus UID brand mini 4 pole that would work. http://i59.tinypic.com/140da9v.jpg The nice part about using a switch, either on the test bench or for final installation is the ability to quickly A/B ...

Re: Moog MG-1, Rogue, and Prodigy - Filter and cap mods
Ladder Filter Cap Values I spent some time studying every Moog schematic I could find. Might want to look at the modular Moog schematics of the 904 series filters. They used 4 pole rotary switches to change the filter response via different value caps in the ladder. The 904A Low Pass Filter had thr...

Re: Moog to release modules this year
What could Moog offer that isn't already available? These? http://i61.tinypic.com/2hz4sqw.jpg I'm not aware of any one making drop in replacement Moog modules. Moog has all the R&D in reproducing those, much like the old Moog Custom Enginering Department did for years. Moog currently has a &quo...

Re: X Y controller power supply.
With a +10/-10 volt supply like found on the Minimoog,I get: Full range: -2.4 volt to +2.3 volt. 10% range: -0.2 volt to + 0.2 volt. With a +15/-15 volt supply like found on the Sonic Six, I get: Full range: -3.5 volt to +3.5 volt. 10% range: -0.36 volt to + 0.33 volt. Zero volts is calibrated to be...
