Opus 3 noise... imagine that!

I have to laugh about this after reading such lines as "Are ALL Opus 3s broken?" all over this board. Mine is for the most part pretty solid, save for a couple of issues. I'll address them one at a time. Most aggravating is the noisy output. All I have to do is have it plugged in to any am...

I finally got to mess around with a P'08 at a Guitar Center the other day... I couldn't get much of an idea of the wonderful sounds it might produce because of the shitty little powered monitors they use for all the floor models (input gain 100%, volume 0.1%) that were distorting like mad, and becau...

Thanks, latigid! I'd really like to hear your stuff. Trying to turn out a recording with one mic can be a drag, though. Can you multitrack at all? or know of a good studio nearby?

Good points, museslave. It's interesting, although I've never considered the Opus to not be a "true" poly. That's why "true" is in quotes. Nothing more "poly" than being able to mash all 49 keys down and to hear every damned one of 'em. I only tossed that in to, ...

Oh... yeah... what you said. :) My bad. I meant to convey that one clean tone (a "one-oscillator sound") sounds with each key depressed. I shouldn't use "oscillator" and "tone" interchangeably. Maybe you can answer me this: I understand that the Opus is a divide-down sy...

I see a Mini, a Micro, a Poly, an EMS and a white-face Odyssey. Not to mention the ginormous modular.

Is this one of the dudes from Tangerine Dream? Or Kraftwerk? I'm sure I heard of him somewhere....

That was wicked!

Attn: Opus 3 owners!

All right, I'm probably not the first to figure this out, but I've seen a lot of posts on here by folks wondering about their sound or versatility, or ones that decry their limitations as a polysynth. True, the 1 osc per voice makes for a pretty thin sound, and the brass preset is pretty much useles...

Still, not quite as convenient as one digital keyboard that does it all... but there are performance and aesthetic benefits to some of the original stuff! : ) I couldn't agree more, museslave! I guess that's why we play Moogs. And it's also true that one could score a Pianet T and a combo or...

Ha, Tomita... my roommate brought home Tomita's Pictures at an Exhibition a while back. First time I'd really listened to one of his records. I thought ELP's version of that piece was crazy, but... Jesus. So anyway, as I revive this dead thread yet again... I play in a kind of jam-band-style group t...

Hey, thanks for the suggestion, guys! And the link, dr. floyd. I'd seen those around, but I took a closer look and the seem pretty sick. I'll have to find some way of playing one... (GIMME A CREDIT CARD, MUSICIAN'S FRIEND!) ...what do you guys think about the Roland RD series? Anybody played 'em? Th...

Stage pianos? HELP!

Not synth-related per se, but between all you keyboardists here maybe I'll luck out. Now, I don't have a whole lot of money to spend -- actually, very little -- but I'd like to hear suggestions on a digital stage instrument to use for piano/Rhodes/Hammond sounds in a live setting. The unfortunate tr...

I use this setup in a Rush tribute band. You can totally tell by lookin' at that Ricky. Badass! Well, this is just too much fun, so I'm gonna join the fray. A proper introduction, as I just joined this forum. There's a lot of crap, though, if you include the entire percussion rig. It's a pretty com...

That's a great troubleshooting suggestion. My Opus had an intermittent problem with no output from the chorus section, but in my case the organ/strings mix slider was the culprit -- a replacement and it was 100%. The sliders are known to be fragile, but if your problem is NOT intermittent then I wou...
