Re: Is Moog selling out in cheap engineering?
Hmmm... I've 2 select Voyagers,2007, no problems! not sure where the boards are made, but if the units out of warr\anty - irrespective of manufacturer, you have to pay, interestingly the surface mount stuff (if Moog ever use these components) are a pain in the butt to fix,I know techs that used to repl...

Re: Is Moog selling out in cheap engineering?
Even the original Moog company "farmed out" their later stuff to sub contractors The Opus 3 circuits were made in Mexico (cheaper to do.) Used to work for polaroid, now they buy in cameras from Indonesia and stick their badge on?! There's no discernably difference with the 2 Moog companies ...

Re: The Rogue / Auto Trig / Sync
Just had a thought! jumper in the Doepfer should be set for 5V pulse out1 there's only 2 possible combinations - pretty strange they never gave both options on the back panel of the MC4V?

Re: The Rogue / Auto Trig / Sync
OK:
Doepfer will output a +5v trigger pulse or an S-trig but they're internally selectable, open up the Doepfer and locate the jumper leads and put it to s-trig standard mono jack to the Rogue and it will work! (pretty standard feature on most mono synths in the 70's/80's. Great with drums sync!

Moog "diversified" in the early 80's moving into non music industrial/consumer electronics - I've an original brochure promoting "The Moog Phone Dialler" hot stuff!

Re: Bad tech work from good intentions
I'd a Prophet 5. 3.2 in for repair (pot regreasing) however the previous owner decided to cut out the pitch bend wheel and bodge in a joystick?! (bit like a horse with a steering wheel!) I'd 2 spare wheels (fine so far) cut a steel template the dimensions of the hole, forced in tight and used metal ...

Re: Cheap Minimoog?
I'd 2 Minis for repair 10-12 years back, they had a painted brown finish which was flaking off - really bad looking! the owners had no idea on their market value - they were just glad to get them back making music! Guess there's still a few "bargains" to be found, some folk just lose intere...

Re: Cheap Minimoog?
Yeah - i've sold stuff to RL before: Pro one's, his mark up is staggering! Soho soundhouse used to restore and sell vintage stuff, but like a few big stores - they're no more! there's something undefinable about the sound of the Moogs - now I've repaired early 1972/73 ones in the past, sonically not ...

Cheap Minimoog?
Since the late 70's my favourite synth was always the Minimoog, great looks/sound/king of cool! Cheapest I ever found one was for 450 pounds around 1981, no, I did'nt buy it! checked out RL Music (English dealer) he's currently 2 for sale 7000 & 8000 pounds (what that translates to in dollars is...

Re: Scams on Ebay
Now i'd used Ebay for years, some pretty good deals (especially if the synth was'nt working!) A Memorymoog came up,ran 7-9 days,I won it, guess what? scam! lost all my cash, if you go to sospubs.co.uk I've documented the sorry tale on their music website forum. But this guys still active!! (under mus...

Re: prototype
I'd sold a wee Jen SX1000 to a girl here in the UK, Holly Lerski, she'd sent me her CD, and wanted to incorporate synths..that CD is still one of my favourite all timers! I've expanded my musical repetiore as i've grown older - sure synths still play a big part. But the whole point is synths can be u...

Re: prototype
Well...If I was 17 again - with limited cash, and if Moog make this small synth at a reachable price,I'd buy it! maybe plastic moulded case - no reason what so ever that it wont be as stylish as the previous moogs, dont know who their designer is? but they come up with some phantastic phatty designs...

Re: prototype
Looks like Moog are stepping in old footprints (sounds like my old Rogue!) probably no memories, with MIDI
twin oscillators with overdrive (as Moog used to call it) If its back to basics - my predictions for a standard Minimoog D (with seperate LFO) just might come true!

Re: Buying a Prodigy
Prodigys (as well as all the older moogs are expensive now!) even in the UK they,re hitting 650/700 pounds ($1200), for that money I'd rather buy one of the newer moogs (or an SE1) 2nd hand. However - due to their easy resale, plus they hold their value, you wont necessarily lose any money if you de...

Re: NEW ALBUM, please listen . . .
Impressive!.. Just thought of movie soundtracks, dark eerie maybe something evil about to burst out of the closet! I remember Friedkin when he made the Exorcist, wishing he'd heard of Tangerine Dream beforehand to do the soundtrack!.. Atmospheric - with a touch of disturbia! Me...I make happy, tappy...
