Re: Matriarch Delay problem
when turning "Spacing" to the right and "Mix" up, I am getting a ring tone, could be a self oscilation. This is the bucket brigade delay (BBD) clock breaking through. It's what happens when the delay time is set so long the circuit is working below its normal operating area. At ...

Re: Mother 32: noise still audible with dummy cable patched in ext audio
Inserting a cable into the socket does indeed break the normalised connection inside the socket. However, the signal connection on the tip lug is now just hanging there and will pick up stray signals. Unfortunately, the nearest stray signal is on the now disconnected normalised lug which is just a f...

Re: Matriarch Paraphonic Playing "style"
I've tuned all my VCOs to unison, though at different octaves. Sometimes the low note gets the highest octave, vise-versa, and anything in between. Generally, for paraphonic playing all the VCOs should be adjusted to have the same settings. So waveform, octave and tune should be all the same for ea...

Re: Matriarch - Clipping
The Matriarch has three circuit blocks that could introduce distortion. The mixer produces hard clipping. On a scope you'll see the waveform develop obvious straight edges at the top and bottom. It's asymmetrical so one side will clip before the other. The filter has symmetrical clipping and this wi...

Re: Matriarch - Clipping
When playing a chord I notice there is some clipping/overdrive happening - is this normal with analogue synthesisers? Other analogue synths will be different. The Moog ladder filter is known for its rich overdriven sound, which is perfect for monophonic playing, not so good when the note intervals ...

Re: Matriarch "Glide Bug"
Just an update on this.
Moog did get back to me today and confirmed that this is indeed a hardware issue and not something that can easily be fixed.

Re: Matriarch - Keystep Pro
Routing Pitch out to Pitch in on Matriarch's oscillators and gate to....? The gate outputs of the KSP should be set to V-trig and be plugged into both the 'trigger in' sockets of the Matriarch's envelopes. Be aware that Matriarch's keyboard sums with the pitch CV coming out of the KSP. So you can c...

Re: Matriarch "Glide Bug"
Good luck with that, I have sent them around 10 bug reports, partly with solutions or workarounds. I have NEVER received an answer from them, so I gave up sending them anything. That is hugely disappointing. My first e-mail to tech support was replied to within 24 hours and with a usable solution t...

Re: Matriarch "Glide Bug"
So this afternoon I have spent some more time trying to work out what this slight blip is each time a note shifts from low to high. I have found that the pitch of the VCOs take a noticeable time to move from a low frequency to a high frequency. This is essentially a small but noticeable glide that y...

Re: Matriarch "Glide Bug"
Mine has this issue and I've been trying to work out what is the problem exactly. I think it's two things. Firstly, the envelopes are triggered slightly before the VCO frequency has changed to the new note. That is, you get to briefly hear the old note's pitch just before the new note's pitch. Norma...

Re: Matriarch - staccato playing in paraphonic modes
I heard back from Adam at Moog today and he confirmed the issue. They'll be looking at fixing it in a firmware update.

Re: Matriarch - staccato playing in paraphonic modes
I'm a bit late in my reply, but just to confirm this delay in note off timing in paraphonic mode was created with the 1.2 firmware updates. The older version, and 1.1 is still on the Moog website, does not do this and extra notes in paraphonic mode are heard as they are played and don't linger on. I...

Re: What's going on with the Minitaur ?
You could buy a second hand one. They seem to be going quite cheaply these days.
And erm... I have one for sale. See link in my sig.

Re: Standalone editor midi output channel?
Thank you for trying to help. You are able to change the MIDI channel in the editor in Settings - Minitaur Global Settings - MIDI Channel In/Out Yes, this works over USB but, unfortunately, it's not doing it when the editor is being used with my soundcard's midi output. The editor's midi output via ...

Re: Standalone editor midi output channel?
Are you using the latest firmware? Yes. But I don't think it is the Minitaur at fault. The problem seems to lie with the editor. It's sending midi control changes on channel 1 irrespective of what channel the Minitaur is set to. In other words I don't know how to change midi channel on the editor. ...
