Re: Why does this Modular sound so incredible ?
What sounds "good" is entirely subjective and influenced by our various biases. Old electronics had looser tolerances and worse noise specs, but the designs were completed within these boundaries. So the built-in distortion or filtering is very much part of the sound. Also, the ageing com...

Re: Minimoog Sync Mod
Thanks, that makes sense now. I wonder if you could sync 1 to 2 and 2 to 3.

Re: Minimoog Sync Mod
I took a beginner's course, but it's been a while, and had to look it up. But i have no idea where the switches are in your mod. mine looks like it has one switch.

Re: Minimoog Sync Mod
Is this right? The 2n3904 is the NPN, whose base connects to IC8 (7th pin?), whose collector goes to +10 and the base of the FET, emitter goes to a resistor then to -10 and SW1 (the switch?). The FET source and drain connect to Q9. Shouldn't be too hard, and the worst that can happen is it blows up,...

Re: Minimoog Sync Mod
Thanks for that, i will try it when I get a chance. Where did you get the switches, and will any do? I am guessing you have the new osc board, as do I with my 12k serial?

Re: Minimoog Model D: CV control options?
You can do note on/off with the mp-201, with the mini's s-trig input. You have to get a special cinch jones connector (although it wouldn't be that difficult to macgyver one if you are crafty) and make a simple gate to s-trig circuit, which requires soldering and a few easy to get parts. i found the...

Could you point me to that? You say "with ease", but how hard is it for a novice?thealien666 wrote:I don't know about the Moog factory Sync mod, but I've done the one found on the web myself with ease.

Re: Minimoog Model D: CV control options?
MP-201 changed and improved my model D dramatically. The "gas pedal" is the most expressive I have ever played, and it stays on the filter CV. Having both hands free and being able to sweep the filter precisely and smoothly while doing pitch bends and such is incredibly expressive. I find ...

Re: MF104 : getting back those high frequencies
I use the high freq roloff of the delay as a creative tool. I love to make super bright sounds and turn the delay mix up. It creates a wonderful haze and soft distortion, especially with long notes. The delay is what it is, so work with it rather than trying to change it. So use an eq before and/or ...

Re: A modern polyphonic moog?
There are so many options for polys, and most modern ones are compromised in some way. A poly voyager with just 4 voices would cost over 10k. Also, you can build a poly voyager with rme's and a midi processor. That said, they did build a $150,000 synth, so I don't see it as a problem technically, ju...

Re: Polyphonic MiniMoog Voyager?
But the polymoog sounds fantastic. :D Well this is one man's opinion. Respectfully, I have never heard it sound good, not in my own hands, nor in the hands of my heroes such as Rick Wakeman or Patrick Moraz... I am not a huge fan of the memorymoog, but the polymoog sounds freakin amazing. Probably ...

Re: Help newbie decide: Voayger vs Sub37
I would get an Old School with the CV expanders and some MF's. It is much easier to bond with an instrument without menus and presets from my experience.

Here's the studio version. It sounds quite different.
The sound lab version is definitely compressed, but I think it might have a very short delay or spring reverb and distortion. The kit sounds a lot more electronic in the sound lab.
