Re: Minimoog keyboard problem

Hi Miles - welcome to the forum. The kenton MIDI kit is in the circuit, with the keyboard, that connects both to the rest of the synth. Check all the corrosion prone connectors esp the square black one under the mod wheels. There is a good chance that one of the connectors that you moved or unplugge...

Re: Minimoog model D differences

CZ Rider - thanks for posting this intriguing analysis. I always wondered why the three Minimoogs that I have owned ( none concurrently ) sounded different. When I posted here before about this it was suggested that the differences I noticed with phase cancellation between oscillators with each Mini...

Re: 197x Minimoog Serial 5128

My Minimoog had the small yellow date tag inside the mod wheel assembly. . Perhaps your tag might be found there as well. Its sn is 22xx and it was manufactured in early 1973.

Re: COMING NAMM 2014

In my experience, with my Moog Model D, Sequential Pro 1 & Prophet 5, analog fm is more usable and consistent from note to note if the modulator can maintain its frequency ratio with the oscillators. In the Moog Voyager and Model D the 3rd osc can easily be set to track the keyboard (and the oth...

Re: Sub 37 poll

IMHO a high pass filter even if it lacked resonance (like the Roland Juno 60 or ARP Odyssey) would be very useful as would a switch to choose between low and high note priority.

Re: COMING NAMM 2014

Several of my friends and I are very impressed with the Sub 37! It really is great to see how many forum and user suggestions were implemented in the Sub Phatty's big brother. There are also several good feature suggestions in this forum thread that could still be implemented before the actual produ...

Re: Moog source for $500

I need to do a similar Li-ion replacement. Can I use a Li-ion cell phone battery of matching voltage? Although the shape is different (flat) I already have a barely used one (Nokia BL-5C) and feel it may actually be better than other options as its a recent product design.

Re: minimoog boards

Hey - it sounds like you are trying to piece together a Minimoog by procuring boards and parts from a variety of sources! Has anyone successfully done this here?

Re: best small desk mixer for modular recording ?

For my 1973 Minimoog I just send it into a Yamaha E1010 BBD analog delay followed by a vintage Moog Parametric EQ. The level control on my Moog along with the one on the delay gives me enough level control, and the whole package is portable and versatile without unneeded complexity.

Excellent work! I am looking forward to seeing your Spider in action.
Are you aware of the vintage Spider put out by EDP ?

As few people know about EDP's accessories for their
Wasp and Gnat I hardly think your spider will create any
confusion : )

Re: Stripping a Model D

I have an original 1973 Minimoog which I believe has walnut wood. The wood is very dry and looks like it would benefit from some sort of reconditioning oil. What sort of oil or conditioning wood finish should I use? I don't want it to look too shiny but rather leave it more in keeping with its vinta...

Re: not to stir up trouble, but...

The 1978 Mini D was the 2nd Mini I owned (the first was a 1975 Mini). I sold it around 2000 to Tom Brislin as he needed a Mini D for his keyboard duties for Yes. A few years later I acquired my 3rd Mini, my 1973 Mini D, which is the best sounding of the three and still pleases me more and more each ...

Re: not to stir up trouble, but...

The biggest difference between the 1978 Minimoog D I used to have and the 1973 Minimoog D I have now was the way the oscillators beat against each other. The 1978 Mini produced bright sharp irregular ripping like overtones (as the osc locked in and out of phase) whenever the oscillators were set jus...

Re: mg1 concertmate

I agree with you Chris Winkels because over the summer I saw a Moog MG-1 that was cosmetically converted so it would look "like a real Moog" with large Moog decals covering every reference to Realistic. It actually looked rather cool - at least until you noticed up close that all the Moog ...
