Re: Mini The Moog (newbie advice) ??
S/N 10175 Fwiw, these later oscillators track and are much less prone to drift. However they draw more current than any other board. Most repairs that I've had to perform where the power supply blew, it was on later models. Still, I recommend them. They have many upgrades including gold-plated pins ...

Micromoog pots?
I just found a small cache of good, but used Micromoog pots. They'll likely go on Ebay, but wanted to give an early opportunity to anyone here that needs one. There's 13 of them including 4 with the special center tap pin. Some replacement shafts also. Sorry if this is an advert, but thought there m...

100K is correct per later Moog service update pages for serial numbers above 2000.

add a Pratt-Reed keyboard. Pratt-Read ceased production of keybeds in the late 1980s. The corporation was purchased from a bankruptcy auction in 2010 and they only manufacture tools. I wasn't suggesting that was a viable option as much as I was commenting on how wonderful they feel compared to the ...

Re: Old Prodigy clickiness
Adjustment trimmer R129 usually nulls out clicks and thumps. (later models above s/n 4160 it will be R120) Could be something else also, but this is usually a first try. If your serial number is between 1001 and 4160, resistor R130 should be changed from 1meg to 51K also. Additionally, if the serial...

Re: Moog Prodigy thumping!
Offhand, I think you're right.Im thinking maybe the VCA is broken in some way
The VCA trimmer normally is used to adjust out thump.
There shouldn't be any oscillator bleed through at all, no matter how set.

The external part of the ribbon is a piece of teflon coated fabric tape on top of a piece of thin rubber.
If the teflon is worn, only replacing it will be a solution. (I have some.)
If it's not worn away, standard non-petroleum based cleaners should do.
For example, window cleaner.

Re: Do I need an adaptor for a vintage 100v effect unit?
I can't say you absolutely should or shouldn't use a step-down transformer, but it would be a good idea. The transformer inside the unit is seeing more power and thus putting out more power. While the diodes and regulators might handle that extra power ok, the now vintage capacitors might not. This ...

Re: Getting more juice out of old gear: The Multimoog
Fwiw, the Roland MPU-101 has trims inside that can be used for scaling. No idea how much range they have, but they're there. Also, one can hold down a certain button while powering it up and have it produce S-trigs instead of gates. (inverted gates) I don't recall the button, but there aren't many o...

Re: Mini The Moog (newbie advice) ??
A Jupiter 8 is very different from a Memorymoog. Obviously they're both synths and cover common sounds equally well. But they're totally different creatures to operate, feel and of of overall sound. The Jupiter 8 also provides an additional 2 voices. Same for the JP6. It's another unique creature. H...

Re: Modular slide/light switches
Just a note (especially to Tom) that there's an inherent "bug" in IIIc/ps with these switches. You see, they're run on AC and that AC is on one set of two adjacent contacts on those switches. The other set of contacts might be an input to an oscillator or filter and be very sensitive. So t...

Re: Polymoog Keyboard: A Plea For More Respect
My 3 cents.... I was fortunate enough to once own a new Polymoog. Full model w/ Polypedal. It had a lot of character, but I found myself trying adapting to it (vs it to me) in order to get the sounds I wanted. That is, nothing was one push button programmable. You had to choose output channels and h...
