The FreqBox is a natural for what you want I think ~ very simple solution as described in it's manual~ feed it back in as External Audio in and you have another oscillator immediately, the CP-251 will give you several choices ~ but you can also do what you want with even more variety, than the CP-25...

You can also most likely filter out CC inputs on your DAW. As far as I know, none of the XLs have a back light. There is no mention in the XL manuals.
