Re: Obermoog (alleged Moog / Oberheim hybrid?)
The reason for the (temporary) name was that it had both Oberheim and Moog filters available (at the same time). I had one, and it didn't sound bad - it sounded GREAT at times, and ran rings around things like the Matrix 12 etc. It was far more routable and programmable, and it worked fine for many,...

Re: Spooky encounter...
That actually makes a good ringtone - it cuts through pretty clearly and won't be mistaken for something else. With a nice swooping pitch, you're likely to hear it no matter what's going on.

Note it says nothing about oscillators, just filters.

Re: what should moog release next?
I think there is a BIG need for a MoogerFooger FUZZ box. Fuzz with Voltage Control. Guitarists are a bigger market than keyboard players, Plus bass players love MoogerFoogers. They would hardly be able to sell a sequencer or vocoder with all the others already out there. A CV fuzz pedal would be gre...

Re: WTF is this?
From what I understand, it is just an idea to add a larger keyboard to the Voyager. NOT a whole redesign. This was a simple design change to have a larger keyboard, and then they suddenly had new room to incorporate the Output Box and CP expanders into the new design. I love those two boxes but it i...

Re: Interesting model D / Voyager comparision
i always loved his presetssound so , would really appreciate some light from him on that subject too. Thanks, sorry for the late reply. I recall Bob sending out the only working Voyager they had built, and the digital electronics were not yet done, so there was really no way to "Save" the...

Re: Interesting model D / Voyager comparision
i wonder what brian's impression is on the difference between the modified voyager and the original one. i always loved his presets sound so , would really appreciate some light from him on that subject too. From what I can hear the slew rate mod has a nice bright edge but I don't hear it as more m...

Re: Voyager XL!
I see this XL as just something so the touring player can use the Voyager as a controller for a laptop or rack. It makes it possible to leave one more controller at home. You NEED the Voyager onstage for its sonics and controls. So using it with a larger keyboard seems a good solution when controlli...

Re: Interesting model D / Voyager comparision
I think it's a little unfair to compare the Voyager sonically to the early R.A.Moog Minimoog as a reference, as MOST Model D's we know are not this early oscillator circuit or filter. Most/later Minimoogs (serial 2-7000) or the last ones (11,000 etc) are very different sounding: Many reasons, many c...

Re: Spotlight On David Borden/Mother Mallard Tonight
I was really, really pleased by this show. For one, Borden has used laptops and software for years now in his performances. But at our request, he brought a Voyager and original Minimoog (originally used by Rainbow in the '70s!) for the show. He and Josh Oxford played live to prerecorded backing, bu...

Re: What Polymoog to Buy?
Get the synth version. It's adjustable - and there are ONLY a few presets on the other. With the adjustable options you get MUCH better sounds. It's a weird keyboard - not good if you like space sounds. But it's GREAT if you're a real player, someone who knows how to use both hands and chord work - ...

Re: Museum of Making Music Celebrates Moog...
The talks were great, it was REALLY cool to see Herb soloing on the Minimoog - he's quite creative and adept. Ought to be, as THE Longest Moog synth owner! John Eaton also played some on the MTS and showed video of it in it's prime. As he said, it's VERY hard to play with that kind of control. Many ...

If you just want to hit the filter hard - you can use the Insert Send/Return jacks . It's not a feedback loop, so the results will differ (and they REALLY differ from the old Mini as you're using 2 filters in the feedback setups above). However, it's why the jacks were put on in the first place, and...
