Re: 901A Controller Calibration...

On the Minimoog you "zero" the master tune knob - at 12 oclock - and then proceded to tune the first oscillator to A440. This can all be done with out touching the master tune again.. yes..? On a Minimoog, the master tune is the ONLY way to tune the first oscillator. Only oscillators 2 &a...

Re: Just got Model D #547x and need advice.

You'll still have to mod the Mini to use an external MIDI to CV converter. The external OSC CV input only ADDS to the keyboard voltage and that voltage will drift when no keys are pressed. If you keep a key down, it'll stay in tune, but then it won't respond to external triggers. So no matter what, ...

Re: 901A Controller Calibration...

CZ is right. The selectors can spin around completely with no stops. Quite like the instrument selector on a TR808, you have to remember where it was set when putting back on the knob. The only reason I'm adding to his post tho, is that sometimes the resistors mounted to that selector can short agai...

Re: 921b clone misery

What do you mean all you have is the Nord schematic.
Did you mean Moog schematic?

Are you using the right caps?
For the main integrator cap you will need either a polystyrene or polypropylene.

Re: MicroMoog S-trig input.....

I'm not going to try and figure things out from the permutations you've posted, sorry, but looking at it logically.... 1. The micro's S-trig in works because you shorted it with a paper clip and the envs fire. 2. You have a multitude of things that put out, apparently, true positive gates. That leav...

Re: MicroMoog S-trig input.....

Could be a bad transistor or one installed incorrectly.. or simply too little input voltage.
Try switching probe leads when testing for shorting.

I completely agree. One thing to add: It's really heavy for a rack unit.
Not a super fun synth to make patches on either, but has an incredible sound.

Re: MicroMoog S-trig input.....

An S-trig is a switch or short (to ground) trigger. If there's a short, it will trigger and not release. Just like bypass. Continuity checking assumes the cable is wired straight through. But most converter cables have a transistor inside. (Voltage from a V gate are applied to the transistor, which ...

Re: Mini The Moog (newbie advice) ??

This one has MIDI fitted but i am not really at all bothered about having that facility to be honestl Rudi's kit is very good, but it can make servicing of that Mini more involved. Lots of wires and an extra board in there. It does give you an extra LFO though. Instead of having to use osc 3 to do ...

Re: Moog Source Troubleshooting Challenge

- What kind of "reset pulse" should I look for on power up? What should that look like on a scope? Is it long enough (in duration) to see? Short spike that ends usually in a ground. (low) Doesn't matter though. You don't need to check it. If your controls work or the keyboard plays, the c...

Re: Mini The Moog (newbie advice) ??

Do you suggest this because you are concerned that i might not actually LIKE the Minimoog (for whatever reason) ??l I think any decent Minimoog will be good to try out, but I'm more suggesting you play one you're able to purchase. Oscillators can especially sound different between certain revs and ...

Re: Best cities for electronic music and art

Since I was born and raised in Los Angeles, I'd just like to point out something.. LA is not New York or Chicago. Those cities tended to build vertically and have many tall buildings. LA, however, is mostly flat. It has large horizontal portions that require transportation between. With this said, L...

Re: Mini The Moog (newbie advice) ??

i would now like to ask some questions please :- Hi Paul, I'm not quite sure what it is you're asking. The only question marks are in the subject line. If you're asking which Mini you should buy, I can't say. These instruments can be highly variable even though they're all Minimoogs. Try and think ...
