Re: Moog Prodigy Advice

I love these 'one and one' posters. We offer suggestions and advice but never hear anything back. Too many of them want their analog synth fixed for free over the internet. I pretty much stopped responding to them - my time is not free, I have too many other things I want to do, and it is wa...

Re: replacement jacks?

Well, the surface mount boards were the only option to keep this in its price range. It's a compromise. I always pull straight out to avoid any angled patch pulling. The jacks are thru-hole solder mounted and should be very reliable mechanically. You shouldn't have to worry about the angle you inse...

Re: Mother 32 Receiving MIDI Clock but Not Notes

The Mother 32's MIDI socket is on a tiny little sub board of its own, with its own tiny, fragile cable connector to the main board.

Check that nothing has gone out of whack with the little sub-board cable connector.

Re: Moog System 35 from Hell!!!!

Hello, I would try to isolate the issue first by removing the 921A and 921B (the most troublesome one) from the cabinet and putting it on your bench with another power supply and connectors. Based on the schematics, it only requires +12 -6 Gnd and then the summing node, reference ground and the PW ...

I'm going to have another go at it and will report back if I succeed.

Re: Model D reissue Mods

Ron Rivera was the one who hot-rodded Minimoogs. Among other things there was a dedicated LFO, Hard Sync and a switch for Multiple Triggering of the Envelope Generators. RMS Minimoog.jpg Interesting at the time but makes the instrument almost worthless in today's market. Pure un-modded Moogs are wh...

Re: Logic making Model D get stuck on a note

I thought I would throw in my $0.02... Check Logic's control surface configuration. Every time I enable something that supports Mackie/HUI I end up fighting with stuck notes all over the place. I had my Beatstep Pro dialed in as a control surface and it worked exactly once and then left me with stu...

Re: Wobbly switches in the Model D reissue

For what it's worth, I much prefer the action of the rocker switches on the original Model D. They seem more positive and 'clicky'. I haven't spend enough time with the reissue D to notice but the switches on the Voyager have always seemed a little soft and sloppy to me compared to those on the orig...

Look. It's very simple. The Mother 32 oscillators have no synch capability. That's it. End of.

Re: Model D reissue Mods

You can tune your reissued Minimoog yourself if have a decent voltmeter. It shouldn't need tuning any time soon either unless you live in an extreme climate. Always let it warm up before worrying about it being in tune :-) I totally forgot that people tune synths with meters. :D Kevin always used t...

Re: Bass overload in my band

I'm a huge fan of the 'Dead' myself and they are a very rhythm and harmony-driven band. A classic and truly brilliant West-Coast folk-rock band. I can't see much of them in the music you shared with us. Maybe you should focus on your 'old traditional American' songs (with your new pianist), which wo...

Re: Mother 32 Sequencer / Sub 37 Sequencer Question

I found it hugely complicated and I couldn't get it to work so I gave up on it.

I'm used to setting up sync between all kinds of sequencers but the M32 and the Sub 37 defeat me.
