Re: imaginative linking MidiMurf, Phaser, CP 251 & Voyager

Plug things in one end and in the other as well

run the phasers LFO into the the rate so it can FM itself

run an lfo into the envelope jack on the murf

plug things every which way and see what you like, thats about all there is to it

Re: If you had to buy a Poly today?

Aiming for a Prophet sound I'd at least look at the Creamware Pro-12. It's digital but supposed to be a great emulation, and its got full knob control and 12 voices.

Re: Sample & hold

Sampling the voltage of an LFO will give you a pattern like you were asking about. S&H on a sine wave results in a distinct up and down stairs pattern. Other waveforms will give you other patterns

Re: Watch out Moog!

Here's the problem: unlike analogue, VA can always be improved - until perhaps you reach a point where they are indistinguishable. So 15-year-old VA technology is not good because many things can still be improved. Are you really telling my a JP-8000 sounds analogue? Sorry but Roland's COSM is not ...

MF-101 mods

My LPF has been growing more and more on me, but its def missing a couple things. The two things I want most are an env amount that can go negative and an fx loop. Personally I could do without the 2/4 pole switch and have an fx loop switch instead and leave it on 4pole, but I know a couple of yall ...

Re: New found love for the CP-251

I've come up with approx a million and a half ideas for one, now to come up with the bucks! the only thing i'm worried about is the reports on the low voltage level of the noise outs -- is this a problem? also, can anyone tell me how fast the S&H can sample (can it sample at low audio rates if t...

I'm pretty sure Sound on Sound's editors are pretty keen on the old Roland tape echo units ;)

Def be careful buying an old piano. Theres so much string tension that its not uncommon for an old one to have a warped harp on it

Yeah, the problem with it sounding weak is that the internal pre on the 102 only boosts the audio in signal -- you'll have to bring up the gain on the carrier in so the levels are about matched for it to sound good

I'd say it probably doesnt need a DAC since it'd just be easier to go ahead and use a DCO instead of a VCO to generate the clock signal, but otherwise yeah, that seems about right, latigid
