Re: Mini The Moog (newbie advice) ??

Are there not any EQUIVALENT parts which can be used as a substitute ??

Obviously not. As I've been told they're completely concepted and produced by Roland. They've only been produced for the Jupi 8 exclusivly.

Re: Mini The Moog (newbie advice) ??

Well yeah, if you have a Rhodes then keep it. That keeyboarder I talked above still crying like a child because of having sold his. As I've been told from my tech too, people say that the 12 biter does sound more elegant because of the swifting of the oscillators as aresult of non-accurate tuning. T...

Re: Mini The Moog (newbie advice) ??

Well, Kevin brings it definitively to the point. I can confirm this for nearely 100% as I had this discussion recently with my tech before I decided for the MM. We compared and talked about the Jupi 8 and MM for hours and days. Just to describe both synths once again. For me the Jupi 8 is like a sha...

Re: Polymoog Keyboard: A Plea For More Respect

The other foible is those d#mn trimpots. They are open frame CTS trimpots and prone to aging from oxidation. The same ones used in OBX and a common cause of failure. Both instruments were pioneer units with a lot of R&D, but in order to recoup costs they cut corners on the trimpots. A restorati...

Re: Polymoog Keyboard: A Plea For More Respect

Very fine posts, Kevin and MC. This makes me now even more thinking of and being aware and get more into in the future. :D Yes, the strings give me the creeps and at every time when I'm lstening to the old and early SAGA-recordings......... Just to bring it to the point, I've a very harmonic tenor t...

Re: Build and Sell a modern version of the Moog "Constellati

I also don't see a "package" as a sensible stuff to be released. The most people want to use their gear "independently". On the other side home-workers and recorders who want a full and rich sound instantly or for experience-working are probably well-equipped with this kind of se...

Re: Polymoog Keyboard: A Plea For More Respect

I love the polymoog - those versions that are programmable. I had three different ones, each better shape than the one before. I found the presets and preset-only version of the Keyboard to be rather dull-sounding. However, with the controls, one can do some wonderful sounds. It IS very different t...

Re: Polymoog Keyboard: A Plea For More Respect

Also a fan here (although I don't have one). Really, the Polymoog is the soundtrack to my youth: Gary Numan's The Pleasure Principle is Polymoog and Minimoog heaven. Clever man using preset No.1 and not going past that! Using the direct out was also a key factor that many miss when trying to ...

Re: Polymoog Keyboard: A Plea For More Respect

Very impressive post ! I'm for a hundred % with, and even more. I'm feeling now even more urged to do the one or the other thing for to keep him alive and working better. Doe's anyone know where I can get one or two voicecards ? Polymoog a coffee-table ??????? ...but with pain everywhere:  :lol...

Re: Mini The Moog (newbie advice) ??

Though the main problem with owning multiple vintage synths is that they take up a lot of storage space !! Paul Not only this, I see the major problems having not enough room when playing in a club with 2 setups for 2 keyboarders. This makes me always thinking of a P 12. But this-one is too...

Re: Mini The Moog (newbie advice) ??

So how much would you say a MemoryMoog which has been fully restored by Rudi is worth paying for ?? 3,000, 4,000 5,000 GBP ?? Well, this is a quite interesting question. You have to differ between all kinds of requests musicians have. 1. Is the musician a profesional and gains lots of bucks and nee...

Re: Mini The Moog (newbie advice) ??

Correction: What I've said formerly, the sound on the MM could not be modified is wrong. As I know now there are several points in the audiopath where parts can be changed on the voiceboards and have an influence to the sound. But at the end the result would be very doubtful. It's always a question...

Re: Mini The Moog (newbie advice) ??

On the Nord you can change polarity with a selector of the instrument but I (still) don't know whats the case on the MM . i never had to switch the Polarity setting on my Nord. What ever pedal i have plugged in has always seemed to work no problem :D Well then, polarity had been set in the factory ...

Re: Mini The Moog (newbie advice) ??

I've two Yamaha FC 7 sustain-pedals each on the Nord Electro 3 and on the Prophet 08 and they work excellent i have a Yamaha sustain pedal for my Nord Stage 88. So you say these work with a MOOG ??? Oh sorry, I was wrong, the sustain pedal is the Yamaha FC-5 and the expression pedal is the FC 7. I ...
