Re: Moog MG-1, Rogue, and Prodigy - Filter and cap mods

I saw your post on that and am really excited for an update. I'm not quite sure where a 4 pole switch would fit in the MG-1. It would definitely have to go into the back somewhere. My plan was to purchase some tropical fish caps soon, but I'm curious to see if you thought there was any difference. I...

Wild. Thanks for posting. Makes me feel better about swapping out some parts back to Moog specs.

Re: Moog MG-1, Rogue, and Prodigy - Filter and cap mods

Good luck! Degunking doesn't seem like very much fun. When I got mine, the previous owner got most of the gunk out, but used a cleaner that managed to melt together all of the keys. I had to use a thin hacksaw, dremel and xacto to cut them loose. Not a very nice process, so be careful as to what kin...

Moog MG-1, Rogue, and Prodigy - Filter and cap mods

I'm working on a comprehensive guide on Moog MG-1 mods. I should be done in a couple weeks. Since I'm still working it all out, I thought this was interesting enough to bring up in it's own thread. While I have my MG-1 open I decided to see what I can do to make the synth sound better overall. You'l...

Re: Wtb Vintage Minimoog Needing Repair

I'm sure there are many others that would love to find one as well. I've been wanting one for my entire life. My dad's old friend used to have one when I was growing up, but I wasn't allowed to touch it haha. Of course, now I'm also contemplating a Voyager for the modern options. I swear I lose slee...

Wtb Vintage Minimoog Needing Repair

Well, I've been saving for around three years to buy a Minimoog. In around two weeks I'll have enough to purchase one that needs repair. I wanted to put some feelers out to see if anybody is interested in selling one. Preferably needing electronic repair over physical damage.

Re: Is the Werkstatt more than a toy?

Got all of the knobs in. They are actually kind of loose and don't come close to sticking. I also don't feel that the knobs are too close together. Perhaps I ordered different knobs. These are #4 Synth Pointers from Small Bear. I did not order knurled shaft. http://www.smallbearelec.com/servlet/Deta...

Re: heavy Fuzz

The closest you'll get to a fuzz tone is from the Freqbox. You might be able to get a heavy distortion by using a few of them in a row. Crank up the drive and output on a couple of them, then use another to keep the level low. This might sound okay, but you should really just get a fuzz pedal if tha...

Re: Is the Werkstatt more than a toy?

I keep thinking about all of the things I'd like to add, but am having a dilemma with how much I really want to drill into it. The only thing I'd really like to have permanently installed would be a headphone amp with volume control for when it's a grab and go thing. I've been coming to the idea of ...

Re: Is the Werkstatt more than a toy?

Thanks for the heads up! I didn't have any problem with that one sticking when it was down. I can imagine it's a pain though. Especially since the pots aren't attached to the chassis. If something like that happens and you have a little space underneath the knob, use a shoe string to pull it off. Ju...

Re: Is the Werkstatt more than a toy?

I made up some wood panels for it today. I had one knob already and have the rest coming from Small Bear. I thought it could look a little more Moogish.

Re: Is the Werkstatt more than a toy?

Well, I definitely love this little synth! It's exactly what I was looking for. It's nice to have something that is just grab and go. I think instead of adding jacks to the unit, I'm going to install a DB25 connector and have breakup boxes like the Voyagers. This way I can have one setup for synth s...

Re: Is the Werkstatt more than a toy?

That's a great video Dan!! Thank you. The thing is, I'm pretty inexperienced with synths. My focus has been on guitar and drums. I own a small studio and would like to have an analog synth handy. It's not very often that it comes up, so it has to be affordable. I have the Animoog app on my iPad, but...
