Re: Sub 37 Sample and Hold Source
I believe that there is no S&H circuit in the Sub37 - the random waveform is digitally produced. And yes, you have the right idea about S&H, there just isn't such a beast in the Sub.

Re: Mother-32 drone mode in VCA Mode "ON" / Sine wave issue
Well, two things: Check page 14 of the manual: it discusses drone mode pretty clearly Looking at your sine wave patch, the filter cutoff is way too high. Turn it down and you will be able to hear it. Hope that helps, Mike *EDIT* I see jidogenshi has mentioned turning down the filter, so sorry about ...

Re: Mother-32 sounds permanently in VCA Mode "ON"
Your first issue is not an issue :) that behavior is as designed. With the switch in the ON position, Mom bypasses the envelope and sends the signal to the amplifier directly. Think of it as "drone mode" - very useful. As to your second issue, again I think your unit is fine. My guess is t...

Re: Mother-32 arrived today - is it faulty or is it me?
can't tell you how many times I've done that!! I was trying to post a graphic showing the patch but I failed (couldn't really do it at work). Glad you figured it out and have a great new year too.

Re: Mother-32 arrived today - is it faulty or is it me?
Try this: Set VCO WAVE to SQUARE Patch VCO SAW on the patch panel to EXT.AUDIO Move MIX full clockwise to hear only SAW Move MIX full counter-clockwise to hear only SQR Move MIX to 12 o'clock to hear only SAW + SQR If you still hear silence on full counter-clockwise, there must be something going on...

New Piece: Blood Sugar Not Magic
Hi All -
Here's a link to a new peice: https://soundcloud.com/mmarsh/blood-sugar-not-magic
It's what Paul Schreiber used to call 'Bug Music' - it's really an impression of a bad day written on a Mother-32 and assembled into Ableton Live. Enjoy!

Re: Sub 37 Tuning SC 1 OSC 2 issue?!
paul_sub37 is right about the tuning of analog oscillators, they will always be a *little* out - but that's what makes 'em great :) One trick you can use is to get them as close as possible then use Osc Sync to lock them in. The little bump between saw and square is normal. In fact, I use it as a gu...

Re: How fast can you make the subphatty envelope decay?
Where is the SUSTAIN at? Also, RELEASE? They will be the apparent decay of the signal. You can make the envelope essentially click (in other words, very fast).

Exactly! It's a 'simple' machine with outstanding capabilities that provide surprisingly complex results. The patchbay allows these kinds of tricks that make it sound like a bigger machine than it actually is. Here's an example with two tracks of Mother-32: https://soundcloud.com/mmarsh/mother-32-2

Re: alternate tunings for sub phatty? arpeggiator?
There's going to be latency if you use the SubP's keyboard. One way to do it is with another keyboard hooked to the arpeggiator and the MIDI it produces sent to the SubP.

New Mother-32 Day! Yay! came in yesterday, spent some time with it, got some amazing stuff. I left the recorder on, so when I go through it this weekend I'll post a few things on Soundcloud. Wow, what a musical little box...I'm kinda blown away.
