Re: New Werstatt owner questions about mods
Hi guys. I'm the one responsible for the synthnerd blog, so feel free to ask any questions :) I have a few more mods on the drawing board but life and other projects have intervened. I will post them when they're ready though. In the meantime I'll be posting some some simple DIY circuits you can bui...

Patch compatibility between Phatties
Hi. Just wondering about the compatibility of .syx patch files between different incarnations of the Phatty. I have an early LP (stage I, s/n in the 300s) which has been a real workhorse since 2007 but have been considering a different model to change things up a bit. However, I have hundreds of pat...

Patch memo sheet - jpg attachment
Just knocked up a quick patch memo sheet. Hope it will be of use to people
Seems .pdf attachments aren't allowed, so it's a .jpg instead.
Cheers!

Re: How to use the full range of the cp251 with a Sub Phatty
Just want to bump this for some clarity on the specs - rather than risk damaging anything. I know the LP manual states 0-5V for all the CV/Gate inputs. But what happens if a voltage outside this range is applied? What protection is used at these inputs, are these figures nominal only? Most of my ana...

Re: Moogerfooger 104M, Pittsburg Modular Cell 48, or Strymon
The EHX has sine or triangle modulation only, which is already a good thing. Hmm, I like the square wave modulation of the EHX Memory Boy - though it has limited uses. Uh... voilĂ . If you have specific questions, I'd be glad to answer :) OK! Do you know if the Moog's LFO is bipolar? I mean, does it...

Re: Moogerfooger 104M, Pittsburg Modular Cell 48, or Strymon
Anybody compared the Moog to the EHX DMM w/TT1100? I picked up the DMM mainly because it was half the price of the Moog, and although I think it's a good pedal I'd be interested to hear from experience how it compares to the Moog... I also have the Strymon El Cap, and it's a pretty good unit, though...

Re: Moog MF-103
Yes, the 103 is my favourite phaser too... I've been through a few, and it has seen them all off. The only thing I miss on it is the ability to invert the modulation - which would be handy for stereo use. I recently compared the 103 to the old Small Stone, and though I thought I'd never sell the SS,...

Re: MF-103 VS MF-105
It's different to a phaser. It can sound similar at times, but very different at others. I find the MuRF good for both long, slow sweeps and fast percussive bursts. Here's a brief demo, with annotation as it plays: http://soundcloud.com/njramsden/moog-mf-105m-midi-murf-test I had a lot of very frust...

Re: MF-105M MIDI MuRF teething trouble
Never mind, you reminded me to finish what I started! I hooked up the MuRF to a Yamaha RX11 drum machine - simple job, MIDI out to MIDI in - and it works perfectly! Funny, that... keep it simple, and all is well. Start starts them, Stop stops them, and Continue starts from where the MuRF left ...

Re: MF-105M MIDI MuRF teething trouble
I am currently working on programming my patterns for the murf externally. Velocity to level and staccato mode should add some nice variety. This sounds like it might be the best way - treat it almost as a synth or similar module, something to be sequenced, rather than hooked up and run in tandem. ...

Re: MF-105M MIDI MuRF teething trouble
Further experiment reveals that the MuRF sync to the computer is dropped when closing a software application. It seems that if I open Logic first, then switch on the MuRF's power, the MuRF receives MIDI controls just fine. It also seems that if I only open the Controller app, that works fine too til...

Re: MF-105M MIDI MuRF teething trouble
Seem to have got it working more or less in Logic by keeping open the MuRF app simultaneously so I can reset the MIDI if needed - closing it, then opening Logic, seems to kill the control of the MuRF and there's no way in Logic of getting it back. However, playing notes now seems to trigger the MuRF...

Re: MF-105M MIDI MuRF teething trouble
OK, right, so this is beyond a joke. Does nobody else have trouble getting this thing to work with MIDI? I've been trying to clock the MuRF from Note On 108, as suggested in the manual, but it only worked once. As soon as I stopped and restarted, it failed to clock again. I couldn't even get it to r...
