there's a pitch knob on each mod bus, where you can select osc 1/2 or both as a mod destination (positive and negative).

Can't you just use that to dial in the amount and set the source on the mod bus to be one of the envelopes or the downward ramp (with kb reset) to get a kick drum pitch drop?

Some kind of replicable metering that other sub 37 owners could do and compare with yours would give an answer - but I really don't know how to go about doing that as audio interfaces vary.

I'd have thought that too - but they did say in their opening post:

not inaudible by any means, but not cranking loud even at max settings on both dials

There is one way that definitely makes this work in Ableton, but it's a bit tedious... on the other hand, it might be the correct/only way, if there's not a way to make it automatic. (I may need to check with the Abes on this) to be honest it doesn't cause me enough grief to warrant the time needed...

in weird cases like this it's always worth trying the obtusemoose fix of doing a sequence erase - hold [BANK] and turn the PATTERN knob to [REC].

That has fixed a few weird issues for people (including one for me).

For general noodling I use standard apple first-gen earpods. At full output volume/full headphone volume even an init patch is unbearably loud for me. You could do it using a mod bus by going into the mod bus controllers menu and setting source as constant on, setting a percentage for aftertouch and then moving the pitch knob for that mod bus, giving the desired range and oscillators to be affected (osc 1/ osc 2 / both). And most Macs got an audio input.

apple have moved to a single combined headphone/mic socket of late, so an adapter/splitter may be needed to give an audio input socket for a standard 3.5mm/1/8" jack. Cheap and readily available though.

It looks like the minitaur and sub phatty editors both work as effects and not instruments, so I doubt they'll change that for the sub 37. I guess having it run in chain with DAW "external instrument" instrument handling is the attraction of doing it this way - I can see the logic in that.

I've made this for myself, but thought I'd share in case anyone else finds it useful - it's an image of the sub 37 panel with midi cc numbers in place.

I find this easier to work with than charts. It is just coarse midi values though (0-127).
