Okay. I still think we may be talking at cross purposes here... If all you want to do is get the Voyager and Cubase communicating with each other, then you must set the MIDI in/out of the track you are using in Cubase to 7, shall we say, and do the same with the MIDI in/out on the Voyager. You will ...

You can't do this with the Voyager, as it isn't multi-timbral, i.e. you can only play one sound at a time, as opposed to a number of sounds simultaneously, each assigned to it's own MIDI channel. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Hi there. Sorry to hear about your voice - I sing too and I hate it when I get a cold, so I can imagine how you must feel. Anyway, glad to hear the Theremin's been good for you.

Interesting. It doesn't look like it was ever released - unless someone knows different? I still hope Arturia or GMedia produce one, as they have both have good pedigrees when it comes to soft-synths. Failing this, Apple could produce one for Logic Pro, as their incarnations of the Hammond B3, Clavi...

I was wondering about him too. Maybe he was supposed to be Ray Cathode? He put me in mind of Wilf Lunn, an eccentric inventor who used to appear on Vision On (a programme aimed primarily at deaf people) in the seventies. The brass clock was also intriguing - the time always seemed to be around three...

Check out "Strange Sounds: Offbeat Instruments and Sonic Experiments in Pop" by Mark Brend. There's a chapter on the BBC Radiophonic Workshop that (among other things) provides technical details of how Delia Derbyshire and Dick Mills created the Doctor Who theme. Thanks for this Greg, I'l...

Thanks for the info Sweep - fascinating, isn't it? I seem to recall the original TARDIS sound being created by scraping a piece of metal along the anchor cable of an electricity pylon, and then pitch-shifting it down. In the latest series, I have also noticed a screaming sound, which I believe to ha...

Don't let the robot cat patch eat it, whatever you do - you'll have vomit all over the place. Not nice!

I absolutely agree with your last point about the extra features Arturia build in - fantastic. I actually spoke with someone from the company at the UK Sounds Expo a couple of years ago, and asked what they were planning to release next. He told me they had an emulation of an Oberheim Matrix 12, whi...

Do robot cats eat electric mice? It's just that I've never seen one vomit.

Which Arturia synths do you have? I have a CS80V and ARP2600V. I would also like a ProphetV, when I get a new Mac, next year. I also have a GMedia M-Tron, which I really like, and an ImpOscar. Furthermore, I am hoping that an EMS VCS3 emulation arrives at some point - I'd buy it like a shot! I don't...

It rather depends on whether you simply want to play thing using preset sounds, or get involved in sound design. If it is the latter, then a Moog is a great machine to have, and the Little Phatty (I still haven't taken to the name) is as good a synth to start with as any, if you have the cash. If no...

Thanks for all the input, guys. Some very interesting titles. I'd really like to find some info/footage on/of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, during the production of the Doctor Who theme. I know that this was made using many of the elements that make up a synthesizer (i.e. oscillators) without actual...
