Re: Tape Delay Shootout with Micromoog: Ep4/RE301
Cool demos! I think that while tape echos tend to be grouped together, I personally think it's best to think of tape echos in 2 categories, ones with a single sliding playback head and ones with multiple fixed heads. Obviously there are a lot of features and extras that are different from machine to...

Re: Time for Moog to balls up.
I've had a Memorymoog+ for ages though a few years ago I bought a LAMM and sold the +. It does worry me it's old fragile gear of course. Even if I'm playing one note at a time, I hear the decay of the last note. This is not something you can do with reverb though you can with multiple phattys. I gue...

Moog Room @ Rough Trade Brooklyn all March
I think there is a fair amount of basic info out there on the March "residency" of a whole room full of new Moog Music gear at Rough Trade Records in Brooklyn. http://www.moogmusic.com/news/moogs-march-synthesizer-residency-rough-trade-nyc Wonderful to check out by the way. Wanted to write...

A wonderful, powerful, if not at all cheap or easy to build and repair synth from the MemoryMoog era

Re: Interesting Synth history video
That video is rather nostalgic. I miss Bob of course. Not that I was ever at the museum though I do remember seeing a sizable piece of it in the basement of Turnkey in London in 1998. Might have been a sell off because of divorce? Turnkey is gone of course too. There is a photo book about the museum...

Re: Fold down circuits in Moog instruments
That last point about Pythagorean scales just doesn't sound right at all. It is true that chords in equal temperament (what everything uses with the exception of gear where you have a custom or alternate tuning option). Equal temperament is each note in the scale is the same distance apart. Chords w...

Re: KORG MS-10 vs. Oberheim XPander - CVs
Quite a few big pros and cons on a pair of 2 not very similar instruments. And yes, the Xpander sounds significantly different than an M1 or DX7 When you are talking about compatibility with Moog gear you certainly have a bit difference between old Moog gear, S-triggers for instance and what's being...

A couple years later Robin Scott (M) and Ryuichi Sakamoto (1/3rd of YMO) did a 5 or so tracks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SeiHhsC1ds http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vz6EWyRJY6M YMO (dating back to 1978) had quite a Moog presence even on tour in Los Angeles, 1979 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGG...

Re: Moog Piano Bar Library Card!
May or may not help but the blank cards are the same cards used by the Buchla 200e modular system. As a Buchla owner I have a pile of them. Many of mine were bought from Moog dealers back when the Piano Bar was a current product and have the Moog logo on them. But maybe you are talking about a card ...

Re: Predictions for new Moog Products this year
I read a rumor about an Old School knobbed out phatty. Any predictions what the new year might hold in terms of the moog product line? Maybe more midified foogers. 101M seems likely. Seems redundant in my opinion, if you could afford a Phatty with knobs you could get something Voyager class with Kn...

Re: RIP Dave Brubeck
Randomly walked into a NYC Apple Store in 2009 and he was about to do a Time Out 50th anniversary show. Of course I stuck around.
I was thinking what's the Moog connection (Thelonius Moog aside). Still don't know. Without question fine contributions to jazz and music in general.

Got a message on FB that I'll get some code within 48 hours. Nada. And I did check my spam. Unless of course something happened with the FB email account nonsense people are blogging about. Don't know the deal there but if they changed my Facebook Email without asking, I've not been able to access i...
