Re: Question concerning modern Moog synths gate voltage...

Another thought...

Most CV that operate at 8v is because they are v/hz not v/octave. Unless the MAQ can be changed to output one vs the other, it may not work with all of your moog gear anyways.

Re: Question concerning modern Moog synths gate voltage...

The Beatstep Pro is 17" long, so you could Velcro it to a 19" rack plate pretty easily

Ableton (And OSX) not recognizing multiple Moogs

I have a sub 37 and two minitaurs. Running ableton 8. All three moogs are hooked up via USB midi. Only one of my minitaurs gets recognized. Which one recieves/sends midi data is kind of random. Everytime I boot live, or power cycle the moogs, it randomly selects one of the two. If I hook up one of t...

Re: midi vs cv

I believe the Minitaur/Taurus have different filters. They sound different to me, and I think it was mentioned on here before. For me, the minitaurs are just kind of a great utility to have. Paired with another moog it can be whatever you need, at any given moment.

Re: midi vs cv

Having two is definitely a luxury. I would get the sub 37 next, and then another Minitaur, or maybe a used slim Phatty (or little Phatty)

Re: midi vs cv

jsharpphoto I was under the impression cv would give me control that midi wouldn't in the minitaur. I am quite happy to find out it doesn't! You helped a lot thanks! Can I ask how you like working with two minitaurs? Do you layer them together for insane fat sounds or are they doing different roles...

Re: midi vs cv

Got it. Makes perfect sense. I thought you were trying to use a midi to cv converter to control the Minitaur.

Re: Question concerning modern Moog synths gate voltage...

You could build a passive attunator. A simple trip to radio shack should take care of it. I just build a bank of passive CV mults with attenuators. I don't know hat the price is on that doepher unit, but you should definitely look at the Arturia Beatstep Pro. I just got mine to sequence a pair of mi...

Re: midi vs cv

Out of curiosity, why do you need a midi-to-cv converter?

Re: midi vs cv

it's hard to say if "midi does everything CV does" because "what cv does" varies by each piece of gear. If you're specifically talking about the minitaur, then yes, midi can do all of that. The reason for having both, like i said, is to incorporate gear that isn't midi. There is ...

The H9 is the way to go, if you can afford it.

Re: midi vs cv

Cv is for connecting with purely a along gear. I would t connect with CV if midi was available, simply because I like remapping the CV inputs, and "pitch" and "gate" makeup for 50% of those opportunities.

Re: Polychaining over USB midi?

Cool - Glad you got the poly chain working!! 8) Yeah, pretty sure I had a similar look on my face the first time I got my Little/Slim Phatty poly chain operational... :D And the surprising forethought by moog (although it shouldn't be surprising... It's Moog) that all of the sub37 knobs would trans...

Re: Would anyone else love to see 'foogers in Eurorack forma

If you really want Euro-friendly semi-modular effects, look at Dreadbox. Their devices have excellent build quality, proper form-factor (all CV jacks are on the front) and quite interesting. They don't have the moog classic sound, because they aren't moog. But they all perform well, and are priced v...

Re: Polychaining over USB midi?

Confirmed tonight. USB midi works for polychaining. I'm currently set up for 3 voices, Sub37 and two Minitaurs. I have watched just about every video on polychaining on youtube, prior to getting the minitaurs in the mail. Every time I watched this clip, i thought to myself "what a moron this gu...
