Re: Balance out volume changement while changing resonance
the Moog filter has built-in automatic gain compensation (AGC), which keeps the overall signal level constant. At my Voyager the overall signal level does NOT keep constant when I switch on resonance, instead it decreases! With very high resonance I still get a higher signal level anyhow. Maybe thi...

Re: Experiments with the 104-Z Analogue Delay
So what does that have to do with the fooger delay? Well, here is my idea. I have discussed it here before but I started to do some experiments and just ordered a few DIY instrument electronics to complete it (or at least the first phase). I was walking in a Home Depot of all places (no musical ins...

So what knob works the overload effect with the patch cable then? EXT Input on the mixer with the switch ON. Hello, The filter feedback loop, i.e, the Minimoog tip involves the external in AND the main volume control to set it's gain structure, because it's send is taken after the vca on the synth....

Re: Thread Topic
Hello, The Minimoog D leads George Duke uses aren't that complicated, in that they sound like basic square or pulse leads with spikey, plucked envelope settings. He said in an interview some years ago, that he likes the lute, so he seems to use this as a patch model, but some of the leads like on &q...

Re: Thread Topic
Hello, The Anniversary edition was initially introduced with a black cabinet, back-lighting (including lit wheels), and the 50 Ann. badge. Most of the units have the black cabinet however, before the series was discontinued, Moog Music offered some additional wood choices (including oak) by request....

Re: thread topic
Doug, In principle, it works like the effect you get when you have a ruler (plastic or wood) on a desktop perpendicular to the edge, with two-thirds overhanging, place your palm on the third thats on the desk surface, set the overhanging end into motion (like a reed), then as that end vibrates, pull...

Re: thread topic
Doug, What you're referring to seems to go beyond simple reset sync. Ron Rivera (of the former RMS) did something like this with the sync function. Normal reset sync forces the same period between two waves, but chopped the synced wave. Rons PMS function allowed reset sync, but the initial phase dif...

Hello,
iirc, the JMJ phaser sound is Small Stone. Keep in mind there are several editions of just the American version, so it helps to do a bit of background

Re: Old School and regular Voyager persons
Direct patches do not sound even close a lot of times. Add in the different modulation busses and it's going to be quite a project. But I am curious if this thing needs to be re-calibrated , or if they are just that different sounding for normal reasons. Lemme know !! Hello, From which series is th...

I've been absent from the Synth scene for many, many years. I'm glad to be back, thanks to Chris (X24) and a new analog synth project! Doug, Welcome, I notice you're from the Great Adventure area. Didn't you work on David Sancious' keyboard rig (he had a setup that included a Mini and a Polymoog, c...

I've scored a smoking deal on a SE voyager w Ver3.3 firmware. Had a D in the 70's and sold it for food/rent in the 80's. Always wanted a replacement and this is it. Now I don't remember if I could do it on the D but I know I was doing it with my old ARP 2600. How do I route a Square CV to the VCA? ...

The downside to selling the SE-1 is that I would be lucky to get half of what I paid for it. Hello, Very much on point. You may want to stay open to the idea of a pre-owned Performer, and keeping the SE-1. If you use the SE-1 set to nothing else but the Oberheim filter patches, combined with the Vg...

Re: 3 -> 1 FM
Maybe this is a no-brainer, but I checked the manual and do not see how to control the depth of modulation for Osc. 3 to Osc. 1 FM. Naturally you can use the control bus for Osc. 3 -> Osc. 2 FM and get depth control there, but then it is next to impossible to tune Osc. 2 anywhere near Osc. 1. I usu...
