monads With regards Voyagers being collectable in twenty years I disagree. Firstly the build quality and moden componentry is such that I reckon a higher proportion of Voyagers will be still functioning in 20 years compared with the 2600 in the same life sycle. Secondly, this is an "in producti...

pelican Just a couple of points, although someone here has said you can add the verious elements that the ARP has over the Voyager by buying the moogerfooger pedal range there is a huge difference on how these things can be wired to the Voyager. The moogerfoogers have very limited control voltage in...

Actually . . . the minimoog itself was not strictly designed by Bob Moog. He was away for a few weeks and someone else put together the prototype Model A out of broken modular pieces (anyone remember the name of the chap?). So, yes the electronics were designed by Bob but the idea of the minimoog ca...

Pelican Firstly, although people call both the 2600 and the Voyager "semi-modular" there is a huge difference between the two units. The Voyager is a mono, hardwired-routing, performance synthesizer with the ability to patch out at verious stages (but not all). The modules included within ...

Hey Guvnor I filmed the Turnkey training session . . . I will be editing it shortly for Nick so you'll get to see it again. With regards Bob Being an "older Gent" and wanting to keep it simple , I think there is some truth in that, but not because of age but more to do with Bobs way of doi...

Hey SC You are absolutely right in that moog are missing out not having a modern day Prodigy . . . that unit was almost more popular then the minimoog and in my experience it is the only other moog that comes pretty close to the mini sound (not including the whacky OSC sync). Personally I would rath...

Hi This is an old trick done on the original Model D minimoog . . take the low inpedance output and feed it back into the audio in. basically this takes the output of the mini and re-inputs it into the mixer stage (after the Oscillators, so you can't effect Osc3), where you can then increase the &qu...

Sorry Guys Unless we were duped when interviewing Bob recently for www.rlmusic.co.uk there are no immediate plans for either a set of Taurus pedals or a cheaper moog monosynth. The modern Moogmusic company is a very different beast to the Gibson/Norlin owned one of the 70's and 80's. Then there was ...

Hey I have had a Moog Prodigy, Multimoog, Source, Opus III, Minimoog, Voyager and Memorymoog in my set-up at the same time and none of them sounded the same or even remotely similar, and they are all "analog & moogs". At one point I owned 2 Model D's with serial numbers only 300+ apart...

Where are you located Progger? As you don't want to have to do too much shipping! I know a guy in London who is s**t hot with polymoogs, memorymoogs, chromas,CS-80s . . . basically all the stuff most people won't fix nowadays but i guess that's not going to be much use to you if you are in the State...

I had a Source for 5 years during the late 80's . . . what a great keyboard it is. I have been thinking about getting one again but prices here in the UK are quite steep . . as they are hard to find. Perfect gigging moog IMHO. Strikes me that moog should use the Source as a model for a new lower cos...

Main differences are as follows . . . the plus version has additionally:- MIDI IN/OUT/Through but only very basic MIDI specification and some people say that the processor is not fast enough to process the MIDI data so the whole operation of the unit is slower then the standard Memorymoog. 4000 note...

The main fanfare theme is the Yamaha GX-1, a huge rare and expensive, top of the line Yamaha Electone Organ . . . the precurser to the CS-80. When that died he used an Elka Synthex for the same sound (although he never recorded with the Synthex?).

Also build qu...

gd It's going to be some while before i get to hear my Chroma but what i remember of them (I sold my last one in 1991) is that they are not great in the bass range . . . being an arp there is a tendency to be slightly thinner . . . although I remember getting to a point where I could program up an O...
