Re: Moog Opus 3

My first Moog - of many! Really great 5-octave pipe organ sounds. It's not a great "synthesizer" but it was very well designed and solid for the time. Especially for the price. I do know that Dave Luce was one of the engineers on this (though almost all Norlin-era Moog products run through...

Re: Micky Dolenz Moog

The eight 901-B's serials are sequentially from 1058-1065! That's pretty cool. This would be common - they build them on the benches and store them on shelves. Yours would come from a build and they would grab them as a group. That IS a nice amount of oscillators, more than most older systems had, ...

Re: Micky Dolenz Moog

To the best of my knowledge Serial 1002 on our 984 is the second unit released commercially, and a very well respected, senior Moog specialist wrote me that. It was Moogs serial practice at the time. 1002 is #2. No - as said before - ALL this means is that your 984 mixer is the second one made afte...

Re: Micky Dolenz Moog

The Dolenz/Sherman system is in nice shape, certainly. MINT is a strong word, I would not use it for this system, but near-mint is certainly closer and more honestly, one would say "excellent" condition. Mint means NO fingerprints or any signs of human life beyond the factory table... it h...

Re: big reverb for drones??

WAIT WAIT WAIT!~ Please check out the Eventide SPACE pedal. Not super cheap, but reasonable for the quality. I'm hoping to get one myself. It's sonically beautiful, especially on those long spacey things. Truly a wonder - Roger Cordell from Big City Music turned me on to it - and I was hooked in sec...

Re: Micky Dolenz Moog

Definitely. There was a connection AND Mort Garson (also a big proponent of early hippie Moog stuff) was there, too. Elektra bought their Moog through the sales agents (I think really mainly Paul Beaver, technically, but will have to ask Bernie if he was legally a rep, too) which they were on the We...

Re: Legacy Modules and BMF's calendar

I also love the calendar, and it does show some interesting details, especially with the insides, not commonly seen. It is not always mentioned that the modules have been changed in the text - and I hope someone doesn't see the mess of wiring that is that 921 and assume it's the way Moog built thing...

Re: Signed by Bob Moog - how to know if its genuine?

Good answer, but I think it was technically the school's Moog; he had one himself at home in a custom cool case! Now the University one is here in LA, saw it just the other day...

Re: Moog Model 15 modular/Club Of The Knobs vs. Synthesizers

The original System 15 (and others Moog made of earlier model numbers 10, 11, 12) had single panels across the bottom. They are the same height as the half-size CP panels but full width on the P-cabinet. So the COTK design is historically correct - at least in looks!

Re: Micky Dolenz Moog

I have access to Micky Dolenz' 1967 R.A. Moog Modular III-p or 3C. It's still visibly mint, the owner is selling it and I am representing him. It's a museum piece. It may have been the moog used on The Doors Strange Days song, I am trying to verify that. Pretty sure Micky sold it to Bobby Sherman &...

Re: Micky Dolenz Moog

It was indeed sold to Bobby Sherman, now an ambulance tech. Also would like to see some detail shots of this instrument - I've been looking for it for 20+ years. Still in LA?

Re: Signed by Bob Moog - how to know if its genuine?

As Kevin said, Bob signed MANY things. His official signature is very clean and easy to copy. But it's not worth a ton either, yet! You wouldn't buy one just for the signature... would you? If you don't have a Voyager, it's a great synth. If I had one, I would not likely buy another just because it'...

Re: Found info on the 901D and a modular patch book

Hoping to get pics of this from the BMF... it's a donated system from a University in their own state! Roger Powell's keyboard looks cool next to it. No word on its functionality, but all Moogs were built well and certainly restorable.

Re: Moog Modular UK based Auction

I am not a fan of brightly colored modern cables on an old Moog... just looks cheap and wrong. Grey or black....please!
