Re: Voyager VS Model D : Compare and Contrast

Its a subtractive synth, so you are supposed to start with sharp waveforms with lots of high harmonics and filter them down as you need. I would love to see an upgrade where individual waveforms from each oscillator are available on a VX-like module. And of course, nice sharp waveforms.

Re: Voyager VS Model D : Compare and Contrast

If you open the filter wide open and pump a ramp or square through it, the model D has this razor edge high end that the Voyager doesn't get. This is unfortunately correct. The rise times on the Voyager waveforms are terrible and the sound is too soft for that sharp saw, square and triangle with a ...

I can't understand the point of even mentioning 3.5 if there are no plans to release it soon. What is the delay on releasing this OS? It's just been released: http://www.moogmusic.com/selectseries/ Software tab. Dude, that was a whole day before you posted. You know how fast these firmware updates ...

I can't understand the point of even mentioning 3.5 if there are no plans to release it soon. What is the delay on releasing this OS? Personally I suspect it is something to do with updating the Sound Tower software. Does that require a paid upgrade? I'd not be pleased to pay for that... Cheers, B

Yes, you're right. In the case of the BBC doco, I'm saying that the source material is such low quality that I wouldn't buy a DVD over a download - even with some compression artifacts. And of course buying the DVD to support the people who made the documentary, and to increase the chance of simila...

Sorry, but you are quite wrong. I do in fact only have bluray movies made after 2004 because the image quality until then really wasn't enough to be worth it. Lord of the Rings is just fine in standard DVD, partly because of its age. But the newest Harry Potter movies must be seen in bluray to get a...

My thoughts on the stepping of the filter cutoff: Wouldn't it be possible to add a slew between the analog voltage derived from the digital value scanned by the cutoff pot and the actual CV going to the filter? I doubt you could hear it with large knob turns, but it would smooth out the stepping wit...

My favourite part of the doco is that the members of one of the bands all had a mono synth each and took them on the subway to the venue :) Its cute that you could have a pop single with 4 monophonic synths. And I completely identify with the envy at seeing a VCS3, MiniMoog, even Roland SH-1000 or m...

I wouldn't buy the documentary, and pleased that the entire series was ligitimately available on YouTube. To purchase a single doco which is in low quality because of the '70s and '80s footage is not worth a DVD. Not worth the quality of DVD and personally only worth $10 to me, but it would be at le...

OK, spoiler alert on the next paragraph. Sorry 'bout that, but I assume that some people may never be able to view it on YouTube. I bet its Depeche Mode. They are the last quarter of the video. It mentions that they were the only band to get success in the USA. There is also OMD, Eurhythmics and Ult...

Yes, part 9 is fine. Maybe its a regional thing, because its no problem in Australia.

The humour is great, as it should be in these documentaries. If you can't laugh at yourself then you don't really understand where you have been :)

I just built myself a "rotary hand controlled foot pedal" like Jarkko, A real foot pedal is just too imprecise as a controller. But the range of filter cutoff is not the entire spectrum. I was expecting I'll have to build an active circuit to get the full voltage range, but I rediscovered ...

Nothing infringing about the episodes now. Its a real shame that explosive bursts of new ideas don't come along as much these days. Who cares what people look like, how simple the music is, or plain embarassing the lyrics are? Its the sound of being swept along in an excitement. Historical context i...
