Re: Trade in Sub 37 for Mother 32?

Hi Jonboy I pretty much agree with the two previous posters. Amongst other things, I have a Sub-37 and three Mother 32s (racked up in a mid-sized Eurorack system). You need to have at least 2 Mothers to get anywhere near the sound of the Sub 37, and even then you're lacking a lot. Sure, the footprin...

Re: Voyager: cursor button dead

I'd suggest getting in touch with Moog technical support first. Is your Voyager still under warranty? Even if the warranty has expired, I'd ask Moog for advice first. In my experience they are always helpful and could point you to the nearest repair center. I'm pretty handy with a soldering iron but...

Re: One key on MG-1 plays wrong octave in some settings

The low F (F2) is handled differently than all the other notes in 'organ' mode on the MG-1. The signal from the F2 key feeds into one half of U6 which is a CD4013 Dual D Flip-Flop. The other half of the flip-flop is unused. This simply divides the frequency by 2 (or not, if it's busted!). The obviou...

Re: Can you recommend a Midi controller?

I use the X-key 37 - full size keys, nice feel, very light and compact if gigging.

Re: 2 Mothers - OSC sync?

There's no way to sync the oscillators between two mother 32s unfortunately.

Re: 2 Mother - duophonic with aftertouch and velocity

Each Mother 32 will work independently. I have three and use them as a 3-oscillator mono-synth and also a three-voice polysynth via MIDI.

Re: Problem with Multi Trigger

Oh God I hate these "hold this combination of keys and power on" things!

Are you sure you're hitting the 3's (D3, F#3, A3) rather than an octave up or down?

I don't know the answer, but I suspect an email to Moog Support might resolve the problem quicker than posting on here.

Good luck!

Re: Bass overload in my band

You can't all be playing bass at the same time otherwise it's going to sound like a hot mess. There needs to be room in the audio spectrum for individual instruments and parts (vocals, leads, rhythm, percussion etc.) otherwise they will clash and everything will turn to mud pretty quickly. I have no...

Re: side panel colour and cut

Yeah. I was a bit disappointed with the accuracy of the end cheeks. I ordered the 3-tier rack but couldn't fit three Mothers in it at the same time. I measured the end cheeks and the corner radius varied quite a bit. Up to +/- 0.7mm, which doesn't matter at all for a desktop unit, but it's enough th...

Re: Sub 37's Powering Compatability

You just need an appliance cord with a standard 3-pin IEC line socket at one end and a Japanese plug (Type B) at the other (earth pin must be connected). You don't need to worry about local AC voltage or frequency. The power supply in the Sub 37, like all modern power supplies, is designed to handle...

Re: One key on MG-1 plays wrong octave in some settings

There are two sound generators in the MG-1. One is basically a clone of the Moog Rogue, the other is a crude polyphonic organ type thing. As the problem only occurs when the poly slider is turned up, it sounds like the polyphonic section is faulty. The poly section of the MG-1 is a basic tone genera...

Re: side panel colour and cut

I have some of the early mothers and the wooden end cheeks varied in dimensions slightly. In fact they varied enough that I couldn't fit three of them in the 3-tier rack. The corner radius on the end cheeks wasn't precise and although the variation was only fractions of a millimetre, it prevented th...

Re: MG-1 restoration parts...

Just received my MG-1 / Rogue replacement parts from LA Synth. Very happy. Good-quality slider pots and switches at a fair price. I have yet to deal with the dreaded black gunk in my Rogue, but these parts will make the restoration job a lot easier.

Re: Your Number 1 Synth

My number-1 synth is my venerable Korg Trinity Pro (with the optional analogue monosynth board). It's been my friend since 1998 and some of its sounds might seem a bit 'dated' to some ears, but it still blows my mind. It's amazingly flexible and programmable. Sitting above that I have a Moog Voyager...

Re: 4-tier 60HP Moog setup (with pictures!)

Cool! :D I couldn't get the flimsy Moog rack frames to align with the holes in the end cheeks of the M32s. I ordered a 3-tier rack but could only fit two M32s in it at any time. The wooden end cheeks varied in dimensions so much that I couldn't fit three of them in the rack at the same time. I consi...
