Re: How to repair sonic six?

Hi Bella: You can find and download a copy of the excellent service manual for the Sonic Six at the synthfool.com website. With this info, any competent synth repairperson should be able to figure out the problem with your synth. If it's never been serviced before, you may find that most or all of t...

Re: Isao Tomita Patches?

There was an album released in Japan only in 1977 called Sound Creature, which showed some of the techniques he used to build some of his particular sounds, along with a booklet of illustrations of these techniques. I don't have this in my collection, but have always meant to track it down to check ...

Re: DIY 1125 sample and hold...

Wow! Your finished unit looks and sounds great, and has a lot of control over the functions.

How did you cut the slots for your slider pots? That has been one of those things that just seemed too difficult to do DIY for me, although I like sliders for some functions.

Congrats on an excellent build!

Re: DIY 1125 sample and hold...

Hi Tom: Looks and sounds pretty cool! I've always liked S/H, and the Moog is a really good one. The section where you can mix in the sawtooth oscillator as a sample source is a great idea and yields a lot of cool sequencer-like riffs much like its more advanced LFO cousin in the Sonic Six, another f...

Moog M15 App Updated!

Moog has updated their already excellent Model 15 app, and along with substantial updates to the Audiobus capabilities, Midi and the built-in recorder they have included three new collections of presets available as IAPs, including a collection I designed specifically for this app called Mercurial S...

Sub 37 Audio Modulation

I just got a Sub 37 and am slowly picking my way through the (many) various modulation possibilities. One thing that I haven't been able to accomplish so far is the ability to use the actual oscillator output to mododulate the other oscillator frequency input (cross mod) or use an oscillator output ...

Re: MOOG 15 QUESTIONS

I've owned a bigger 55 system for a long time, but the limitations in regards to oscillators vs LFO's are still pretty much the same. The 921b can be used as an LFO, but all 921b oscillators track the 921a, so you can't make the other 921b track the keyboard without the 921b LFO speeding up and slow...

Re: Large round trimmer

These were made by CTS. I think I remember seeing them on some tube amplifiers as well being used as 100 ohm hum balance trimmers for the tube filament circuits. I'm not sure what the original model number of this trimmer was. CTS made a 115 series that looked sort of like these...I'm not sure if th...

Re: PCB trimmer/pre-set

Those are the venerable CTS 201 series trimmers, I believe.... http://www.ctscorp.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Series-201.pdf They're probably still available if you look hard enough. As an official kinda old guy, I remember these fondly, and used them in many homebrew synth projects. I like them ...

Some Model 15 Patches

Here's a link to a folder with some various patches from my library.
Be sure to select the descriptions button in the preset page to see info about each patch with occasional construction hints, playing tips, etc.

Re: RIP Isao Tomita

Tomita was one of my early synth heroes. While I absolutely loved his incredible musicality with the Moog, I appreciated even more his indelible sense of humor when realizing the various pieces of music he tackled over the years. He made the Moog chirp like tiny chicks, made it sing nonsensical and ...

Re: Wiring Issue with Moog System II

The reason I'm asking is because while looking at the current photos on Rezin's site, I noticed that there doesn't seem to be any connection at all to pin 3 (-6V) that I can see in this picture... https://www.flickr.com/photos/cryptorose/24921427145/ If you enlarge the area at the connector, you can...

Re: Wiring Issue with Moog System II

Hi Rezin! I still have a few questions about the 905 reverb module, which I think got lost on a few previous pages. Your help would be greatly appreciated! 1) At the bottom left quadrant, there's a 10uf blue cap, a 220 ohm resistor, then a resistor that I think is a 33k, but is hidden from view by t...
