Re: RE: Mini / Multi - Home Recording (FX)?

Hello, I spent a while this evening hooking up and experimenting with the MULTIMOOG thru an (hardware) MXR CARBON COPY PEDAL (and then into CUBASE ). Lot's of OCTAVE switching going on (in real time ) and application of FILTER MOD (via the WHEEL ). Mostly blowing over a Bb Mixolydian and Bb Blues sc...

Re: RE: Mini / Multi - Home Recording (FX)?

Hi Nutty, I much prefer working 'out of the box', rather than in it until I get to mastering. As a result, I have a LOT of gear, both synths, and sound modifiers that apply during tracking and mixdown. Once I get to mastering, though the price of gear skyrockets, and the types of manipulations are o...

Re: RE: Mini / Multi - Home Recording (FX)?

Donut, Not sure how the old Hi-Lo switches work on the old synths but I would suggest you use the one with the highest output level with the least amount of noise. If the -10dB gives you acceptable volume and little or no noise then thats the one to use. Well I used the LO OUTPUT in the MULTIMOOG de...

Re: RE: Mini / Multi - Home Recording (FX)?

Hi, . . . and before I forget: I used the LO OUT on the MULTI in my recording. This is -10dB though there is a HI which offers +12dB . The LO seemed to produce a fairly good result but what would you use the HI for? Gigging, or a different kind of recording scenario please? Or never(!), and just sti...

Re: RE: Mini / Multi - Home Recording (FX)?

Alien, Certainly ! If that's what you had in mind to do in the first place, AND you still like the results ! You might experiment on trying to improve it, sure, but you might realize that, in the end, it was okay as is ! I suppose it comes down to whether or not you have the ability to accurately re...

Hi,
Voltor07 wrote:No, that was my first one...I meant the one uploaded last year.

Ok, so it must be the Studio Update and Forest 13 x min's upload then?

Re: RE: Mini / Multi - Home Recording (FX)?

Howdy Mark, I agree with everything Alain says above and just wanted to add that sometimes the initial idea/creative inspiration is the best. Not every idea or improv needs to be developed. Not every idea or improv needs to be improved. So you mean ("sometimes") if you get an idea, play wi...

Re: RE: Mini / Multi - Home Recording (FX)?

Thanks a lot, Paul, everything you describe about different delay times, in sync with the song's tempo or not, the use of certain effects or not, and all of that is purely a matter of personal taste. So therefore we can assume that the REASON they (the DELAYS ) are out of SYNC (in certain recordings...

Re: RE: Mini / Multi - Home Recording (FX)?

Hi again, Well, I remembered I actually have an MXR (169) CARBON COPY PEDAL which I use for my RHODES PIANO (my RHODES has been packed away for a couple of since since I have my NORD STAGE set up permanently now). Looks like it offers MONO IN and MONO OUT (which is of course fine for the MOOG ). It ...

Re: RE: Mini / Multi - Home Recording (FX)?

Hello Moog Prog,

There are DELAYS within ROOMWORKS entitled: PING PONG, STEREO and MONO. But I can not specifically locate a CARBON COPY (should such a plug-in exist).

And REVERENCE encompasses only REVERBS it appears.

Best,

Paul

Re: RE: Mini / Multi - Home Recording (FX)?

Alien, While we're on the subject, here's a good example of what I did recently, and usually what I do. m The third track was the Electric Piano of the Alesis Ion, which is panned more to the left, with medium level reverb but shorter time than on the other tracks, because I wanted to give the impre...

Re: RE: Mini / Multi - Home Recording (FX)?

Hi MP, For the S&H track you could try sending the audio through the Carbon Copy, and just dial-in the delay time by ear. I find analog delays are good for this because you can hear the delay time changing in real-time as you turn the knob, and it is fairly easy to hear when it is in time with t...

Re: RE: Mini / Multi - Home Recording (FX)?

Alien, I don't think that there is a right or wrong answer when it comes to effects. It's like seasoning in a recipe. It all depends on what you want to achieve, and the means to get there. Most often it's a trial and error process until you are satisfied with the results. Sure, a delay is also a go...

Re: RE: Mini / Multi - Home Recording (FX)?

Hello, Here is the MULTIMOOG track again with two adjustments (based upon fellows members feedback): m I have added a small amount of REVERB (HALL) in CUBASE (at a mere 8% ) on the LEAD. It adds a little touch of warmth to the reedy-ness character of the MULTI . I worked on the principle of less is ...

Re: RE: Mini / Multi - Home Recording (FX)?

Hi AS, I used my Super Classic Ludwig drums I've had since age 10. I like recording with them. My first synth was the YAMAHA DX21 which I bought aged 17. I hated FM then and was very inexperienced etc. Ended up getting a KORG M1 2 x years later (as half the world did also!). But then last year (20 x...
