Re: new voyager noob questions

Hello and welcome! So for the Voyager, there are stereo output VCAs fed by the 2 filters - note that the input to the filters is the mono mixer output signal. Why the stereo VCAs then? 1) Dual LP filter mode - in this mode the filters are in parallel - such that filter B goes to the Left VCA and Fil...

Re: LPF Change In Functioning?

Hi All - From p. 6 of the pdf of the manual: "The RESONANCE knob changes the way the filter sounds. Or, in technical words, it changes the shape of the frequency response. When RESONANCE is near 0 the low overtones come through evenly. When RESONANCE is turned up to around 7, the overtones near cuto...

Re: Running a Korg through the LP

The Little Phatty has an audio input that runs external audio through the Filter, then through the VCA. In order to get sound through the VCA has to be opened by the Volume Envelope Generator - which is done by playing notes, or by using the External Gate input. Details about these things are in the...

Re: LP + SP + mono in effects: setup?

I don't think there are any rules on how to pan - it depends on what you're going for. I'd probably pan the LP left, the SP Right and the effects return in the middle. But it could sound good other ways too. The best is to experiment.

Re: where is the poly stacked SP video/demo?

The Voyager synth engine is VERY different from the LP/SP - the example video relies on all instruments set to the same patch. Otherwise it would be a multitimbral patch. The problem w/ a multitimbral MIDI polyphonic setup is because the voice allocation is through MIDI (which is a serial interface)...

Re: where is the poly stacked SP video/demo?

@ c7sus There is a feature in LP/SP called "POLY MODE". This would be in the MIDI Setup section of the master menu. Normally it is OFF, but you can select the number of voices in your system (in the Japanese video there were 4) and which voice number each particular unit is (i.e. 1 of 4, 2 of 4, 3 o...

Re: LP + SP + mono in effects: setup?

Hello Spin - A lot of inexpensive basic mixers have Aux sends for effects loops. The ones to look for are ones with Pre-fader sends. This means you can input your LP + SP signals into two separate channels but send them both mixed on the Aux send to the Moogerfoogers. I usually send the return of my...

Re: Midi Murf exploring

Hi All - Not sure if you'll find this useful, but you can also use MIDI Note# 108 to advance the patterns step by step. It acts just like the Step input. This would be the highest "C" on an 88-key MIDI controller. Most controllers offer enough octave transpose range to get there... That's on p.21 of...

Re: Making sure I understand the freqbox correctly

Hey - The FreqBox has a VCO and a single audio input. You can Hard Sync the VCO to incoming audio. (Hard Sync is when you reset the start of an oscillator's waveform based on the frequency of another oscillator or signal) You can frequency modulate (FM) the VCO with incoming audio. You can modulate ...

Re: Voyager 50ae SO Update problem

Hello - Just to chime in - there are a couple settings in the Master Mode you may want to check: Master Mode: Receive Presets. Sysex should be ENABLED. Master Mode: SysEx Device ID. This should probably be set to "1" (I'm not sure if it applies to firmware or not) If those are set correctly then it ...

Re: external CV via red input jack

Hi Erik - Going a little OT here, but... That's not Zippering from the Voyager - it's from the Ewave Plus Pitch to CV circuit. It takes 2 cycles of the audio to generate the CV output, so fast changing notes at low frequencies on the theremin will cause discontinuities in the Ewave Plus CV output. I...

Re: VX-351 - Midi to CV?

Hey - Yikes - sorry to hear about a VX351 KB CV that is out of calibration. Here's a tip - Take off the four screws of the back of the VX-351 - you'll see a trimpot mounted on the back. Hook up a reasonably accurate Voltmeter to your KB CV Output - Play the lowest E on the Keyboard. The KB CV should...

Re: VX-351 - Midi to CV?

Hi All - The VX-351 outputs 1V/Octave - and there is a trimmer inside to tweak. Only the first 15 Units VX-351 ever shipped did not output 1 V/Octave. Funny how this myth persists! And yes, VX-351 can be MIDI to Gate on the KB Gate out, and MIDI to CV on the KB CV, Pitch Wheel, Mod Wheel, Velocity, ...

Re: external CV via red input jack

Hi Niko - This is no problem - each input on the Voyager that takes an expression pedal input has its own Ring voltage supply that is designed so you can plug in a Tip-Sleeve plug without worrying - it basically just shuts off the ring supply on that input when you plug in a TS plug... Enjoy your Vo...

Re: Trouble with CV!

Howdy - The "~+5.6" reference on moogerfoogers, Voyager and LP CV jacks that accept Expression pedals is presented on the ring - then sent to one end of a pot with the wiper returning to the tip, you have basically a 0 to +5V CV at the input (Don't worry - you don't have to be super precise w/ the m...
