Re: Just bought a Model D on eBay...

Hello Alain - They've had the unit for about 2 weeks, but they originally told me it would take 2-3 weeks, so I'm not worried so much about that. Do you think it was a mistake to have the pots cut, even though it makes them easier to clean in the future? I will probably get an estimate on the optica...

Re: Just bought a Model D on eBay...

Thanks for the feedback - it's always good to hear from experienced folks. Not sure what I should do at this point, since the work is already complete. They are leveling the keys now, and it should be complete. I was also concerned when I saw the picture because those burn marks were not there befor...

Re: Just bought a Model D on eBay...

Just got an update from Analog Lab - they got everything working much better, had to cut open the pots the clean them which helped tremendously. They were having issues with the key contacts, and had to remove the board a second time and solder each and every contact. He said for some reason, the ex...

Re: Patch for ELP's "From the Beginning" for the Voyag

It's so funny, but here I am 4 years later, still locked in my room, still trying to make this patch... I think I may be getting in the ball park. I posted a video, but it sounds much closer in person.

Re: Just bought a Model D on eBay...

That's funny... and thanks! Here'a an update: I sent the Moog to Analog Lab in NY, and so far these guys have really been great - very receptive and responsive. They will need to fully strip down the keybed to install new rubber mounting standoffs. After they are installed and the key contact board ...

Re: Just bought a Model D on eBay...

Thanks for the help everyone... after the initial shock wore off, I am seeing things more clearly now. I really don't want to ship it back, and the seller is being very helpful considering it really wasn't his fault. He's willing to credit me a little to help. I notice the 3rd oscillator only plays ...

Re: Just bought a Model D on eBay...

Oh man... you can say THAT again. It plays like crap! Almost like it has after touch! On some keys, the notes sound like they are gliding off into space. Also, the envelope knobs don't seem to do what they should. I can't really adjust the decay, and some of the wave forms sound really bad (scratchy...

Re: Just bought a Model D on eBay...

We got the wires soldered back on to the connector, but it worries me that the wires aren't matching on both sides of the connecter - I would assume it should be the same, but it appears as though a couple were switch. Either way, the keyboard now works, and I'm getting a tone! A very ugly tone, but...

Re: Just bought a Model D on eBay...

The Moog finally arrived yesterday, and needless to say I was delighted with the condition! The seller did a fabulous job of packing it, and the condition was better than expected. I removed the back panel before turning it on, and it appeared spotless and untouched. I tried plugging it in, and was ...

Re: Patch for ELP's "From the Beginning" for the Voyag

.... yeah, stay tuned.... I gave up and sold the Voyager. Here we are 4 years later and I've recently purchased another one, with an original minimoog model D on the way! Still can't get that damned patch though. Found this link that explains it - not perfect, but it's the closest I've heard yet. Hi...

Re: Just bought a Model D on eBay...

Thanks for the power switch warning... good catch. The seller said he switched it for me, but I definitely will make sure! Very anxious to get my hands on this thing!

Re: Just bought a Model D on eBay...

Oh wow... thanks for the replies! After hearing this feedback from "the experts" I feel much more confident with my purchase. But time will tell, I should have it in a week or two. Not sure what some of these terms mean, but I'll be learning as much as I can in the next week. Thanks again ...

Just bought a Model D on eBay...

m I recently purchased my second Voyager (regrettably sold my first one), and finally made the leap for a Model D. I was waiting for one in decent shape to show up on eBay in an auction format - this way I always feel it's "almost" worth what you paid if people were actually bidding right ...

Re: Coming back... 3k for a new select series?

TEEEL - congrats on that walnut / indigo. That was exactly the same combo I bought originally, which is why I almost nabbed that very same one from Armens. They wouldn't budge on price, in fact they raised it on me... which of course made me want it more! I ended up going with a the plain performer ...

Re: Coming back... 3k for a new select series?

After much thought, I decided to go with a new Performer edition. I decided NOT to go with any backlighting, and even passed on the blue mod wheel. I ended up getting 15 percent off so it was something like 2699 from Musician's Friend. I should have it this week. I plan on keeping this for the long ...
